Hello! Are you tired of surviving, and ready to thrive? I specialize in working with clients who have a parent or partner with
narcissistic
traits. If you've been surviving for years, or decades, it can be hard to believe, but you can heal from
narcissistic
trauma, and create the life you deserve! Let's talk about how attachment therapy and emotionally focused therapy can help you see yourself positively and love yourself unconditionally. If you don't remember your traumatic memories, or it's hard to find words, that's not a problem. We'll use art therapy, sandtray therapy, parts therapy, or tapping so you can heal from trauma.

My clinical focus is on adults who need education and/or support to understand how emotional neglect,
narcissistic
abuse, and psychological/emotional abuse have affected their self-image, relationships, choices in partners and friends, and behavioral patterns. I work with clients who have experienced C-PTSD which develops in response to long-term trauma, abuse, and/or emotional neglect. I can also help those trying to figure out if they’re in a relationship with a narcissist or wanting to learn healthier boundaries to better manage their relationship, in any capacity, with loved ones demonstrating
narcissistic
traits.

Survivors of
Narcissistic
Relationships, emotional abuse and gaslighting is my area of research and interest; treating and empowering sufferers of relational trauma. Effects of repeated emotional injuries over a long-term period may cause physical injuries to the brain, as in lessening memory and ability to learn. Humans, however, are resilient. Every individual is different. Treating each person with individualized therapy, putting them in touch with their authentic self, can give them the long-time yearned relief and benefit of re-discovering their new self-esteem and confidence.

I frequently work with those who have survived
narcissistic
abuse by parents or partners and children of addicts.
I support clients in releasing old trauma and healing from those wounds so that they can change current patterns they are stuck in- whether they be habitual substance use, chronic feelings of emptiness, repeated failed relationships, or something else. I will help you find out why these patterns exist and how to break free of them.

I believe we all need help from time to time, and I believe that often times the strengths lie within those whom seek and accept help. I know we all have strengths and capabilities to overcome our personal, family, and community challenges and struggles which we face in our daily lives. I also believe therapy helps people discover the strengths they have within themselves and, as they apply the suggestions and teachings while utilizing recommended community resources, through therapy life becomes bearable.

For over 15 years I have passionately worked with youth to overcome challenges, helping them undermine this idea that they are “less than.” For 8 years I worked with adjudicated youth at a juvenile detention camp where hope lingered. For 6 years I have worked for an emergency response team tailored to helping youth with an array of problems including suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and self-harm intentions. I have learned to meet folks where they are and slowly walk with them at a pace where they wish to be, a more viable and attainable life.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.
How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.
Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.
How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
