I utilize a variety of therapeutic and coaching techniques along this journey of healing, learning, and maximizing potential, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), somatic and parts work, and mindfulness meditation practice.
As we travel through the mountain range of life, we experience many highs and lows. Sometimes we can get stuck at the bottom of a mountain, left with a feeling of hopelessness and uncertainty in ourselves and our ability to perform at our best. Oftentimes, all we need is a helping hand to begin that climb upward. I believe that providing a safe place to explore struggles and build mental performance skills can cause major shifts in life success. I can help you build the skills needed to overcome psychological barriers, heal past trauma, engage in the present moment, and reach your optimal performance level.

I use a combination of different techniques, to include Mindfulness , Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solutions Focused Therapy.
Starting therapy can be scary, and you are taking the first step. I believe every person’s experiences are unique, and it's an honor when I share in my client’s journey. I received my Masters in Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University in 2014. Since then, I have worked in Hospice, where I was able to guide clients and families through their journey in processing and coping with end-of-life. I also worked in the hospital setting, where I have assisted clients in coping with challenging situations from the death of a family member to a new diagnosis.

My therapy is based on the principles of Eastern Philosophy: Mindfulness (bringing attention to one's internal experience), Nonviolence (practice of harmlessness of self and others), Mind-Body Holism (mind and body are seen as an integrated unit), Organicity (reconnecting the self to reveal the inner wisdom), and Unity (systems are integrated wholes).
I work holistically incorporating mind, body, and spirit. My background includes training in Hakomi Body-Centered Psychotherapy which focuses on felt present experience of the body to access core material of the psyche. I provide virtual and phone sessions. My apologies, my website is currently down and under construction. I can accept out of network private insurance or cash. I am now licensed to do Telehealth in Virginia, Nevada, Washington, Utah and Vermont.

I offer psychotherapy, client focused therapy, Mindfulness Meditation Relaxation, Aroma therapy sessions, Energy therapy, and Emotional Release Sessions, to relieve deep rooted and everyday stress.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, upset, scared, angry, or feeling out of control. Therapy can be used as a vehicle to help you recover from difficult issues. Attending therapy can evoke feelings of uncertainty, a fear of sharing personal information, and a book stack of positive and negative thoughts. In fact, it is normal to have these concerns. The best therapy outcomes that I have found to enjoy are ones with individuals who are open, honest, willing to try activities, and just allowing themselves to make the journey toward peace of mind.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
