I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy, and I also understand that it can be incredibly difficult or intimidating to reach out. But, you did it! You’re here. No matter the circumstance, you will be met with empathy, compassion, and understanding. My work is primarily rooted in Emotionally-Focused Therapy ( EFT ), whether that is EFT for Individuals (EFIT), EFT for Couples (EFCT), or EFT for Families (EFFT), and attachment theory. I also frequently incorporate evidence-based parent coaching strategies when working with families and elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when working with individuals.

In a world where you are expected to go through life perfectly, it can feel cumbersome when you are not doing that so well. Recent world events have made it more challenging to effectively navigate through some of our lowest moments and achieve greatness in relationships, careers, parenthood, or within ourselves. When everyday stressors turn into overwhelming struggles, those struggles have the potential to affect many areas of your life. You may start to experience strong emotions, distorted thoughts, negative behaviors, and destructive beliefs that could potentially become unmanageable and negatively impact your life.

My primary modalities are EMDR, Emotion Focused Therapy ( EFT ), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Our everyday reactions are a representation of our trauma, pain, and learned behaviors. Every trigger is wired to an emotional experience that we have programmed into our brains as a guide to protecting ourselves. We then use these experiences to reinforce behaviors and keep us safe from reliving past pain. Problems occur when our circumstances change, but we do not adapt our beliefs, insecurities, and negative self-messages along with them. Reprocessing emotional experiences, altering coping mechanisms, and developing an understanding of your needs is an important part in healing.

I have been trained in many different therapy modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy and EMDR.
If you are ready to have a life changing experience, then you have come to the right place. Therapy can take many forms. I view therapy through a collaborative lense. I want you to feel empowered to make the changes that will make your life more fulfilling. I recognize that you are unique because of the experiences you have had and that therapy is not a one size fits all. Change comes through small and simple steps. Finding joy and happiness comes through taking these small and simple steps.

I tailor therapy to meet the client's needs, view behavior through an attachment lens, and utilize family systems and emotionally focused techniques to achieve your goals, process experiences, recognize patterns, and discover ways of connecting and communicating that are conducive to deep and meaningful relationships.
I utilize a holistic approach to meet individuals, couples, and families where they are, addressing symptoms and relational conflict systemically. Providing a safe space for authentic expression of self, I value your experience and the unique perspective you bring to your relationships. We are all resilient human beings who adapt to protect ourselves; over time, our protections may hinder our growth and contribute to conflict in our relationships. I am honored to support you on your journey toward strengthening or shifting your relationship with yourself and others.

Taking the steps to come to therapy is the beginning of your healing journey. Everyone hits a rough patch at some point and coming to therapy is a courageous step that speaks volumes. As your therapist, I will empower you and support you to implement these tools to create sustainable change. I am certified in EFT , which is the gold standard of couples therapy and is the only treatment model that studied and researched how to heal conflicted couples.
My practice is highly focused on helping couples and individuals change painful conflict cycles into deep connected bonds. I want to help you move toward your goals and live a meaningful and connected life. Many of those I work with have tried therapy before with little success and come to me discouraged. You do not need to continue to suffer. I come from a client-centered approach with the greatest attention to creating a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship to foster change in your life. I really value and encourage my clients to make sense of their pain and begin the steps to healing and growth.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
