I provide psychotherapy to adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and
relationship
issues.
I am a bilingual Spanish-Speaking psychotherapist providing therapy online for clients who are located in California and Nevada. The decision to seek help can be difficult and I applaud you for taking this step toward change. I will guide you in healing from past trauma, improving your relationships, boosting confidence, and regulating your emotions. My approach is based on building upon your strengths and honoring your unique lived experiences. Regardless of techniques used, I believe the key to therapy is the therapist-client
relationship
. My goal is to create a genuine, safe, and supportive space conducive to growth and healing.

Welcome! You've made it this far on your mental health journey, and maybe you are wondering what the rest of the journey might look like. The truth is: therapy is different for everyone. Some of my previous clients have enjoyed our time together talking about the events of the past week or some changes they are contemplating. Other clients have used our time together to review and process deep emotional scars, with the intention of trying to create a meaningful way to move forward towards their goals. This journey is about you and where you would like to go.

My job as a
couples
therapist is to collaborate with the couple in support of the rules they wants in their
relationship
& work better as a team.
Intercultural relationships often pop-up while traveling the globe and looking for excitement and romance. That is how my husband and I stumbled into our intercultural marriage some 37 years ago..... and stumble we definitely did. It is the differences that are so attractive that can become so problematic as time goes on. We had no common language between us and knew no one who believed our marriage stood a chance of survival. The children quickly came and reality hit hard! 20 yrs in MH and nothing in the field has felt so strenuous, exhilarating and worthwhile as
couples
therapy.

As a current therapist I continue helping youth find common ground, awhile working with children, adults,
couples
or families.
For over 15 years I have passionately worked with youth to overcome challenges, helping them undermine this idea that they are “less than.” For 8 years I worked with adjudicated youth at a juvenile detention camp where hope lingered. For 6 years I have worked for an emergency response team tailored to helping youth with an array of problems including suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and self-harm intentions. I have learned to meet folks where they are and slowly walk with them at a pace where they wish to be, a more viable and attainable life.

As an individual who has worked in healthcare for several years, I have successfully assisted
couples
, families, and individuals from all walks of life by applying postmodern techniques.
Mental health and relational issues are just as essential as physical health, but oftentimes minimized and/or sometimes misunderstood. I would love to work with you as we explore and discover new ways to cope with life's challenges. I have been known to build positive connections with my clients; sometimes through humor and laughter and other times through empathy and compassion. I understand it can be difficult asking for help; however, reaching out for help is the first step to making a positive transformation in your life.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
