During times of difficulty, we tend to seek comfort and support at the hand of loved ones. Often, however, our relationships seem to be a significant source of hardship & pain. Our response to hurt only widens the gap in communication, understanding, and sense of connection. I am trained to help
couples
who desire a secure
relationship
navigate through the hardship, the pain, the miscommunication, and the loneliness. Together, we learn & practice ways of interacting that connect
couples
in meaningful ways in order to build the kind of foundation that a
relationship
needs to thrive.

distress, divorce, grief) or desperately trying to change an old pattern of behavior, I am here to listen. I work with adults (19 years and older) and
couples
who are highly motivated and want to learn, grow, and heal.
**Telehealth only. At this time my practice is limited to patients that have been seen in office within the past 18 months. However, I have three wonderful colleagues working in my office who are accepting new patients.** I believe that human beings have an incredible capacity to adapt to extremely difficult situations, but sometimes old coping strategies do not work in new situations. This is particularly true with adults suffering from symptoms related to childhood trauma, and those who have had to "mask" due to neurodivergent experience. Using evidenced based treatment, I work with adults and
couples
to create their best lives.

I focus on assisting
couples
, families, and individuals through challenging
relationship
conflict, losses, or traumatic experience.
Therapy can help when life becomes overwhelming, when we are experiencing stressful transitions, when we are stuck and unable to move through hurts or injuries in relationships which once brought us love and security. If we feel sadness, fear, depression or anxiety which are preventing us from living the life we want or when unforeseen trauma, divorce, or family conflict adversely affect our children, therapy can help find ways to resolve the barriers to achieve a healthier outcome. My approach is gentle, empathetic but direct. I work with clients at their pace to discover the best outcome for themselves.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
