I specialize in helping individuals and families overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and life changes such as marriage, maternal mental health (postpartum), divorce, and parenting struggles.
At times in our lives, we may be presented with challenges in which professional assistance can help us to overcome those obstacles. The first & perhaps the hardest step is asking for help. Therapy provides a safe place to unlearn who we were conditioned to be. I believe that this experience offers us freedom, which comes from healing our wounds & learning to feel more comfortable being our authentic selves. Through challenging & changing negative thoughts, feelings, and actions, an individual can change their view on internal & external stressors. Thus assisting in achieving treatment goals & increasing life satisfaction.

) Attachment Issues, Sex Therapy, Intimacy, Polyamory, Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM), Anxiety, and Depression.
Imagine a life when the trauma you have endured just feels like a distant memory instead of reliving it every day. Imagine a life when your body no longer betrays you with the response of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Imagine a life where the different parts of you can finally experience inner peace. As an EMDR-trained therapist working towards certification, my goal is to help you process and heal from the traumatic events of your past no matter how big or small they may be. Whether we want to believe it or not trauma has plagued each and every one of us either directly or indirectly.

I tend to focus on self esteem, as it is our lack of confidence that prevents us from overcoming our fears.
In life there are always obstacles and challenges that come our way that need to be dealt with, sometimes we know how to navigate them and sometimes we don't. If we take on the challenges there can be healing and growth, when the challenges are laid aside is when there is hindrance. It is not often easy to over come our own challenges but with support and guidance there is hope. I am here to provide that support and guidance. With insight and an open mind set, you will be amazed by how much you can achieve and overcome.

I work collaboratively with my clients to address symptoms of depression, anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive thoughts and maladaptive behaviors. Central to my work with clients is my dedication to creating a safe, non-judgmental space, and building a strong therapeutic relationship to effectively address presenting concerns. In addition, I work with a keen awareness of the interconnection between medical and mental health. I also work with clients who are going through major life changes, and are experiencing distress that comes with the challenges of making major adjustments.

Anxiety & OCD can show up in many ways. Chronic self doubt, second-guessing or overthinking the "what ifs" like letting people down, making mistakes, contamination, causing harm or "the other shoe dropping". Compulsions (like checking, counting etc) help you delay the worry and consume your time. You may feel tense, scattered, procrastinate tasks, be easily frustrated or get stuck when stressed. You try to handle everything on your own not wanting to burden others but now you're burnt out. This is the cycle of anxiety and OCD is exhausting! I specialize in treating anxiety and OCD to help you overcome fear to find your peace.

My speciality focuses on working with clients to navigate life transitions- whatever they may be, and the feelings that can often come along with them such as depression, anxiety, loss/feeling lost, and the big "what now" questions.
We all get stuck, but we don't have to stay that way. Therapy is a place for new beginnings. Beginning to learn about ourselves. Beginning to increase self-love and appreciation. Beginning to heal. I believe all individuals are unique, thus therapy is not a one size fits all. I aim to meet each client where they are, with understanding and a strong therapeutic relationship as the foundation for a transformative process. Most of us are doing the best we can with what we've received from our loved ones and early experiences, my goal is to have you leave with more, and for your best to only get better.

***I AM ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS*** All good psychotherapy or counseling has certain things in common: supportive listening, empathic understanding, and unconditional positive regard. Additionally, if you choose to work with me, we will seek out and heal the painful or traumatic experiences you lived through while growing up. These experiences likely contributed significantly to what you are currently facing: depression, anxiety, anger, jealousy, sexual issues and addictions, and even simple procrastination. Of course, whatever crisis you are facing needs a lot of attention, but this crisis has a history that is relevant to healing.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
