I realize you you have a tremendous amount of options here to choose a therapist. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I call myself a trauma recovery specialist. I Prefer to work in person and ask clients to plan for a 90 minute session. Years of experience have taught me it takes time to for clients to settle in and make contact with their own resourcefulness and essential wisdoms. Resolving trauma's, big or small, often leads to true self discovery. A process of shedding who you think you ought to be and freeing who you really are. My job is support you in that journey

Life's journey can be rough, but no one has to do it alone. My goal is to help clients find hope, healing, and peace while making the changes they want to see in their lives. While accomplishing this is never easy, it can be done by focusing on clients' strengths, learning self-compassion, and building a solid support system.

I completed a Gender-Affirming Care Certificate Program and am in ongoing consultation on providing quality care to transgender, gender expansive folks, and LGBTQ folks.
VIRTUAL-In our fast-paced culture, we are conditioned to believe that our issues are unique to ourselves and that we alone are responsible for our well-being. This is not only untrue, it is harmful. From the pandemic and the climate crisis to our individual experiences of adversity, we can often find ourselves struggling with isolation, anxiety, and depression. These challenges can so often negatively impact our relationships and sense of self worth, and my goal is to assist you in becoming your most authentic, liberated, and empowered self.

Navigating the immigration process is overwhelming. Your lawyer is handling the legal side, but you’re left feeling anxious, confused, and scared that the only home you’ve ever known could be taken from you. You search for answers—and that’s where I come in. An Immigration Psychological Evaluation can provide critical support for your case. This could be the key factor in keeping your family together rather than torn apart. Whether you're seeking asylum, facing hardship, applying for a waiver, or proving the emotional impact of separation, I take the time to provide a comprehensive evaluation. You don’t have to do this alone.

I specialize in trauma, PTSD, and affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals of all ages.
We search for spaces where our identity is celebrated and our existence is affirmed. For many people those spaces are rare. Too often the world outside doesn't offer safety, representation, or belonging. Over time that absence becomes internalized: self-doubt, shame, a quiet disconnection from who you really are. Trauma makes it heavier. It becomes an anchor, chaining you to pain you didn't ask for and didn't deserve. But the anchor can be lifted, and you don't have to do it alone.

Something isn’t right. Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t let up, relationship struggles that leave you feeling disconnected, or the weight of past experiences that still affect you today. Whether it happened recently or years ago, it lingers—showing up in ways you wish it wouldn’t. Certain situations, people, or memories bring up emotions that are hard to shake. You might feel on edge, like you can never fully relax. Maybe you wonder if things will always be this way. A part of you hopes for relief. Hopes that therapy could help you feel more at ease, more connected, more like yourself. You can trust that part of you.

I find that I connect especially well with members of the LGBTQ community, but of course I am happy to meet and speak with anyone needing support.
I believe good therapy comes from a mutually authentic connection between clinician and client, which allows for trust; there isn’t good treatment without trust. I try to understand both the client's short term needs and their larger goals in an effort to make that trusting connection.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
