I have tremendous respect for the courage it takes to share sensitive aspects of your life. Everyone has unique circumstances so I take time to get to know you personally, your strengths, limitations, and customize treatment accordingly. I don't take a cookie-cutter approach to helping you. Each session, we set an agenda, review improvements, and work as a team to focus on your treatment goals. My therapeutic work is evidence-based, informed by research, and together we will track your changes to assess your progress toward treatment goals.

Embarking on the path of therapy is a deeply personal voyage. For individuals within the LGBTQ+ community, it is especially crucial to have a therapist who intimately understands their journey, as they grapple with unique stressors often unfamiliar to the mainstream. Navigating challenges such as discrimination, family disclosure, and the pursuit of an authentic identity in the face of societal pressures can contribute to heightened levels of depression, anxiety, substance dependency, and even thoughts of self-harm. People get hurt, frustrated and discouraged for a number of reasons. Some people create their own troubles through wrong decisions and actions. Many people suffer at the hands of others or simply because of circumstances beyond their control. This is especially true for those who are facing tough times through no fault of their own. I would like to take you on a personal journey. A journey during which you're going to have to be brutally honest with yourself. No matter how difficult, hold onto hope, because there is healing in this journey that we will take together!

I believe we each have an incredible capacity to learn and grow with the proper support and guidance. I work with adults and couples who see a gap between where they are and where they would like to be - whether personally, professionally, or in relationships. Many have wounds from the past that prevent them being where they want or need to be in the moment. I help my clients narrow that gap with new strategies, insight, tools, and manageable goals. I have experience working with professionals, athletes, students, entrepreneurs, retirees, blended families, geriatric clients, LGBTQ+, veterans, and neurodivergent clients of all ages.

Your relationship is being torn away from you. You ask yourself, " How did we drift so far apart?" Yearning to find the love, intimacy and closeness you had both known almost feels foreign, but the desire to try all within your power keeps compelling you to move forward. You want the mending, intimacy and healing to start now. Just to be seen and understood would be amazing!

Many of my clients are trauma survivors that are ready to leave passive lifestyles behind and reach for assertive connected lives. They are ready for the challenge of overcoming their past and looking toward the future through deeper understanding of self, forgiveness of self and acceptance of who they want to become. My clients have probably tried therapy previously and are looking for a different kind of therapist. My clients enjoy the interactive rapport that is built through honesty and accountability.

Coming alongside teenagers who are LGBTQIA+ and also men who are navigating the pressures they might be facing.
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand who you are and the story you want to tell. Many people see therapy as a one-sided conversation, with little opportunity for interaction or getting to experience each other as real people. My desire is that no one will ever feel that way in any session. We’ll have a collaborative experience where I get to help you achieve your goals, provide another perspective and set a vision for the life you want now and for the future. Calling a therapist can be intimidating. I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
