DBT is an evidence based cognitive behavioral treatment that emphasizes individual psychotherapy and group skills classes to help people learn new strategies to develop a life that they experience as worth living. DBT skills include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is effective in treating a wide range of issues such as suicidal ideation, nonsuicidal self-injury, depression, addictive behavior, PTSD, eating disorders and Borderline Personality Disorder. It has been shown to be more effective than hospitalization in the treatment of suicidality.
North Texas DBT Associates is one of few local providers offering comprehensive DBT. Clients receive individual and group therapy, between-session phone coaching and are treated by therapists on a DBT consult team. Staff are trained through Behavioral Tech.
We treat a wide range of clients, including adolescents and adults. We also offer education and therapeutic serivices to families to increase understanding and support for our clients as they progress through treatment. DBT Skills Group
Dialectical Behavior Therapy groups are skills-based psychoeducational classes and focus on mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance. DBT is an empirically validated treatment that is effective for reducing suicidal ideation, decreasing hospitalizations, and treating chronic, treatment-resistant depression.
