As a therapist I believe that we all have the capacity for resiliency given the right support. My experience working with LGBTQ people and clients of various backgrounds in mental health settings has shown me that personal change occurs best through relationships based on trust, and a common purpose. Relationships where you are encouraged to say what’s on your mind, be challenged, take risks, and gain new insights. In our sessions, I will focus on honoring your autonomy as we work towards your goals for therapy. My intention is not to teach you a “correct way to live" but instead to learn what already works for you and help create a space to explore yourself further leading to new possibilities for your life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist practicing in the state of Pennsylvania. I am a white, non-binary, queer, able-bodied person who is a transplant to Philadelphia. My name is Ana (with the Spanish pronunciation), and I graduated from Villanova University where I got my BA in Psychology and later my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a National Certified Counselor and Certified Trauma Professional. Throughout my clinical experience, I have helped clients navigate various concerns and and co-occurring issues, primarily addiction and trauma.

My clients present a spectrum of needs including navigating substance use, relational distress, chronic health issues, and productivity burnout. Often I assist clients interested in exploring impacts of capitalism, social disenfranchisement, and unhelpful narratives that can create negative self-talk, feelings of hopelessness, and existential anxiety. I identify as part of the queer community and work to support LGBTQIA clients in connecting to community, establishing boundaries, and exploring internalized messages that can impact self-esteem, communication skills, and destructive patterns.

I feel that every client, along with their family or loved ones, processes and copes with adversity, trauma, and mental health issues differently. It is important that I build a strong, therapeutic rapport with my clients in order to create a more comfortable environment for vulnerability. Hello! I am here to help you heal and grow. I utilize psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy and work with you to create a clear treatment plan to help you determine your goals. I provide telehealth counseling services to children, teens, adults and families. I specialize working with Neurodiverse individuals as well as a variety of other challenges including anxiety, depression and trauma throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. After trauma, we reach for whatever coping skill is closest in order to survive. We may turn to substances, self-harm, intellectualizing, perfectionism, etc. This helps us soothe, distract, and numb from feelings of shame, guilt, anger and fear. Still, our unprocessed emotions can overwhelm–morphing into anxiety, depression, rage, dissociation, or hyper-vigilance. However, this only represents a part of us and our experiences. We contain creativity, empathy, resilience, & intuition. Through our strengths, we increase our tolerance, release survival skills that no longer serve us, and return to our most liberated and aligned self.
