I have spent years working in community-health engaged in service of the marginalized, specifically LGBTQ and BIPOC communities, working-class individuals, people living with HIV, disability, substance abuse, and the intersections therein.

I am a psychotherapist and music therapist. I enjoy working with kids, teens, and adults of all ages. I approach therapy from an anti-oppressive and systems perspective, meaning that my primary lens seeks to understand systemic barriers and discriminatory cultural contexts that impact the well-being of those I work with. I am well positioned to work with folks who are LGBTQIA+ and/or inhabit non-traditional family/relationship structures. I have many years of experience working with folks who are grieving, chronically/terminally ill, autistic, depressed, anxious, and folks who have experienced trauma.

Let's invent together a way beyond your suffering or problematic repetitions. I use creative language play to release unconscious tensions manifesting as symptoms. In psychoanalysis you can elevate your agency by recognizing your own unfolding processes without the pressure to change. My attention will be focused on the linguistic and homophonous patterns of your unconscious as manifested in your speech, with the aim of distilling the suffering from your words and possibly producing a creative practice in its stead. To that end I will invite you to speak.

I feel that every client, along with their family or loved ones, processes and copes with adversity, trauma, and mental health issues differently. It is important that I build a strong, therapeutic rapport with my clients in order to create a more comfortable environment for vulnerability. Through building a therapeutic relationship based on mutual empathy and rapport, healing and working through difficult issues can happen! Working with the LGBTQIA+ identifying community is a huge passion of mine, including community outreach. I am areligious, but I find many experiences to be deeply spiritual, including cooking, being in community with others, singing together, and walking in nature. My name is Ana (with the Spanish pronunciation), and I graduated from Villanova University where I got my BA in Psychology and later my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a National Certified Counselor and Certified Trauma Professional. Throughout my clinical experience, I have helped clients navigate various concerns and and co-occurring issues, primarily addiction and trauma.
