I'm Scarlett; I am the owner and therapist at Grounded Guidance Counseling, PLLC, where I provide outpatient therapy services to individuals and couples. The decision to pursue counseling can be a tough but courageous step. Every person deserves to be seen, heard, and respected. It is my honor to have the opportunity to provide that to my clients every day. I deeply believe we all have the power to unlock our answers to build a more happy, peaceful, and fulfilled life. I consider it a privilege to partner with clients along that journey. I believe your identities and how you move through the world are important and deserve to take up space in the therapy room. The ways white supremacy and other oppressive parts of our world affect your journey are often parts that go unrecognized by others. I especially love working with folks who are LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and/or have an identity that is marginalized in some way by our normative culture.

It can be scary to be honest with oneself, let alone with others. Yet, most of us still desire to be seen, loved, and accepted. I work with people curious about how their childhood, cultural background(s), identities, and trauma influence how they relate to themselves, family, lovers, friends, and authority figures. My work centers on anti-racism and the lived experiences of folks who are Queer, Transgender, Polyamourous, or Kinky. I enjoy working with people outside of these identities as well. Modalities I utilize are Relationship Analysis, EMDR, Parts Work, Psychodynamic Techniques, and Sex Therapy.

Each client is the expert of their own experience and carries inherent worth and internal resources that I am honored to witness. I practice from a neuro-affirming, non-pathologizing paradigm, especially enjoying aiding autistic clients to validate and accommodate their authentic selves. I'm queer and agender, and many of my clients are LGBTQIA+, including ace/aro, bi/pan, and trans/nonbinary. <3 I see my clients as complex narrators of their unique stories, often wielding galactic inner landscapes that deserve to be celebrated and lugging burdens that no longer need to be shouldered.

I believe that healing that takes place with another person present is sacred. I enjoy working with clients at any stage of the healing process, from just starting their journey to feeling confident in their abilities. We will create a safe, supportive environment for you to explore yourself and become the best possible you through listening, education, and creative counseling techniques that are NOT Freud's psychotherapy. I love it when clients bring in questions, ask for homework, and commit to the process of counseling. At the same time, I have worked successfully with numerous clients who weren't so sure about going on their journey yet. If motivation is lacking, I like to provide a sounding board for clients who want to be inspired and empowered to decide what's right for them. I regularly ask my clients to get their hands dirty so that in the future, you will have the tools and coping skills you need to embrace your life. Much of counseling is a "choose your own ending" adventure novel, and when you are up for those twists, I'll be right beside you so you do not have to walk through the dark alone.

Too often we are pressured to conform ourselves to narrow and ultimately unattainable standards of who we should be and how we should live. You’re looking for a space to unburden yourself, to safely explore beyond what you've been told is acceptable, where you don’t have to make yourself small.

My practice as a clinician focuses on exploration of LGBTQ+ identities, eating disorders and disordered eating, and grief. I also have some experience in working with individuals managing addiction and individuals managing OCD or symptoms of OCD .

Kate is passionate about working with children, families, neurodivergent individuals, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. They emphasize the importance of the therapeutic relationship and tailor treatment using an eclectic approach to meet their client's needs. Their approach also explores how relationships and environment shape our thoughts and behavior. Kate emphasizes the importance of providing a safe space for individuals to explore who they are and provides unconditional positive regard to clients throughout their emotional wellness journey.

Welcome. I am a person centered, LGBTQ+ clinical mental health counselor and addictions specialist. I use an eclectic and uniquely adaptable approach for a range of ages, developmental-transitional stages towards positive shifts in attitude, behavior, and mood for the wellbeing of clients. I have advanced training using expressive arts therapy, trauma-informed care, infused with nature, and sports psychotherapy interventions. I work collaboratively with people to rebuild trust in themselves and the world. I work with local resources and help identify self strategies for increased positive life experiences.

For so many of us, the past several years of pandemic and political unrest have taken a serious toll on our well-being, our mental health, our sense of belonging, and even our faith in humanity itself. In order for us to figure out how to navigate the tension between the world’s brokenness and its wholeness, I believe we first have to learn to navigate that tension within ourselves. As a therapist, I’m privileged to get to journey alongside people who are engaging in that work and to help my clients develop and access whatever tools and strategies will be most effective for them in their unique circumstances.

We often get lost in what we feel like we should or can't do, which confines us in little boxes that make it hard for us to feel vibrant and celebrate our uniqueness. I believe that when we explore and deconstruct the social constructions and dominant discourses in our social-cultural location and biases that don't align with our personal experiences or beliefs we have the autonomy and freedom to get in touch with our most core self and better understand how we interact with our world.
