I believe strongly in the power of healing though creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your unique experience. My goal is to help you connect with your innate inner strengths, deepen self-understanding and insight, and build skills that foster healing and resilience. I provide short-term solution-focused counseling, as well as long-term in-depth therapy for adults seeking support around a variety of issues. My clients describe me as warm, engaging, and caring.

Throughout life, many of us receive messages that make us question our place or urge us to alter ourselves to fit societal norms. I work LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals who are working on self-discovery and unlearning as well as seeking answers to questions about identity, belonging, and authenticity. Whether you are grappling with aspects of personal identity, past or present trauma or oppression, or challenging relationship dynamics, we will work collaboratively towards positive growth. I also offer support for those seeking help around queer conception, infertility, family building.

Many of my clients are disabled, queer, and trans. I love to support individuals and families in finding and shifting cycles that keep them stuck. This can look like a cycle of anxiety that keeps swirling and growing no matter how much you try to avoid or reassure it. Or like families that are caught in challenging cycles of communication, who are working to shift things but feel caught in old patterns. My clients are often impacted by multiple layers of social and internalized stigma. Specific issues my clients seek care for include OCD, ADHD, depression, trauma, bereavement, and identity development around disability and gender.

I came into the counseling field because I wanted to give back. Yes, I have had to deal with substance abuse and mental illness with myself and family. I had challenges getting help because no one would listen to me, they just wanted to tell me it was my childhood that was the problem. Well, it was not, it was a lifetime of challenge, bad choices and not knowing how to change, cope, deal with life. I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with overcontrol/excessive self-control. This can show up as rumination, hyper-perfectionism, rigidity, difficulty relaxing, and emotional loneliness (even with loved ones around). These challenges can intersect with substance abuse, suicidal ideation or attempts, and/or self-harm. Often, an overcontrolled coping style is central to conditions such as chronic anxiety/depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders like obsessive-compulsive and avoidant personalities. This way of coping may exacerbate or perpetuate trauma and grief symptoms as well.

My ideology is inspired by the juxtaposition of American narratives, originating from the Deep South and Urban Midwest. Growing up in a Pro-Black, Christian Baptist home I learned how gender, sexuality, and white supremacy can greatly affect our culture, happiness and well-being. Early exposure to the mental healthcare system taught me that oppression can be as multi-layered and intersectional as the oppressed, and diagnosis will continue to be an act of oppression if it ignores cultural context, societal phobias, and systemic oppression. For a great number, our mental health is a representation of how we survive our social climate.

What I believe: Relationships are unique and come in countless shapes and sizes over time. Right now, relationships are already happening and changing in your life every day. Love is available in ourselves when we choose it, and choosing love in ourselves brings more love into our relationships. Yes, all relationships shift and change, and at the same time, love can regenerate again and again in the most mysterious moments and forms if we stay open and curious.
