I primarily work with women who are recovering from trauma—especially relationship wounds, systemic harassment, and sexual trauma. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling disconnected from themselves, stuck in patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting boundaries—often after experiences that have impacted their self-trust, voice, or sense of identity. Therapy with me is a space to come back to yourself—at your own pace, in your own way.

I work with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma response/PTSD, relationship issues, grief and loss, and life transitions.
Congratulations on deciding to talk to someone! It's a hard step to take. We can start with a fifteen-minute video consultation, free of charge, and you can see whether therapy with me seems right for you. Therapy isn't an instant fix, but many people feel a little lighter even after a session or two. We can meet in my office or you can meet me from the privacy of your own home via telehealth.

I have extensive experience working with developmental attachment trauma, anxiety, self esteem issues, relational issues, anxiety, and grief.
Our current expression of self is often shaped by a mixture of our early positive or negative experiences, attachments or lack thereof, biology, and environmental circumstance. As adaptive beings we develop ways of coping, patterns of emotionality, behavior, and strategies of relating to ourselves and other. Sometimes these ways of being are not working anymore.Luckily, there resides in all life a wisdom of self-healing. My role as a counselor is to provide a space for re-discovering and empowering that wisdom. Recent research has discovered that the nervous system can rewire itself through positive relational experience.

I have worked extensively with individuals and groups in the field of grief and loss.
I work well with clients who are motivated to change their lives. Often, our greatest challenges come during times of major life transitions. Through active listening and genuine empathy, I help my clients focus upon the inherent solutions to their most pressing problems. Motivation to change comes with the willingness to look closely and investigate the stories we tell ourselves. Often I discover with my clients that their oldest and most damaging internal stories are simply not true. By having a fellow human who is open and fully present witness our lives, we can discover the very real possibility for greater health and happiness.

Many of the struggles people bring to therapy—anxiety, depression, numbness, grief, or boundary issues—are not signs that something is wrong.
My work is relational, somatic, and experiential. We create embodied safety so your nervous system has the support it needs to explore the often-neglected depths where the Soul’s gold lies waiting. I integrate attachment theory, somatics, and experiential relational therapy. I also offer dream work and other non-ordinary ways of accessing what is TRUE.

To love and be loved. To be truly seen and heard. To make a contribution in life through your family or community that connects you to someone or something larger than yourself. These are elements that often lead to a life of wholeheartedness, which many seek. Yet there are times when life becomes challenging and words cannot adequately express the emotional pain you are feeling. You seek someone who can understand, offer support, and restore a sense of hope. I will be your guide as you push through the fears, past wounds, and perceived shortcomings to find your path that has heart.

You tell yourself that you aren’t the only one who has experienced loss and you should be grateful for what you have, but it’s hard.
I believe changing our relationship with emotional suffering is always possible- I wouldn’t be a therapist if I didn’t. As a psychodynamically-oriented therapist, my focus is on the whole you, not just your thoughts, feelings and behaviors but what they mean for you- after all you are the expert on your life.

I enjoy working and developing a therapeutic relationship with people that are struggling in their life whether it's with depression, anger, trauma, anxiety, relationships or even a sense that something needs to change. It's within that struggle that the spark of hope resides and I see it as my job to help people focus on their future, their strengths and successes and then begin to rediscover the hope and power to begin to shape their future and their lives.

Our minds shape every moment of our lives—and therapy offers a unique opportunity to engage with the mind in a healing, transformative way. But the mind isn't just thoughts and feelings; it's also our bodies, relationships, culture, work, memories, imagination, and vision for the future. Therapy can help us make sense of these many parts of ourselves, fostering integration and a more nourishing experience of life.

A significant piece of feedback I get from clients is that they not only look forward to our appointments, but it feels truly conversational and as if talking to a friend. I am not going to be textbooky, instead you are going to get a person who can relate, be real, and also highlight what you're already doing well and ways to tweak towards progress. I am a dedicated ally for the LGBTQ+ community and committed to engaging in open, honest conversations about anti-racism and politics.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
