I am an independently licensed marriage and family therapist with an extensive background in Pk-12 and post-secondary education. I have been trained systemically, both in the areas of leadership and family systems. Therefore, when working with individuals and families, I practice a systems approach to treatment, engaging in the therapeutic process as a client-centered, collaborative relationship. My core beliefs incorporate the value of the client's narrative. I view the client as the expert on his or her story. My role is to co-construct therapeutic goals that can create a space for change to best support the client's journey.

Most of my clients want to be able to love themselves, and to be able to love others. They have a variety of issues that prevent that love from happening: trauma, abandonment, emptiness, anger, compulsions, despair, fear, sadness, grief, lack of boundaries, or boundaries that are too harsh. My clients have inner voices that punish them or isolate them, when they only long to experience a full and satisfying life.

I work with individuals to support their healthy emotional development and growth. I support and understand the complexities of my clients emotions through the lenses of brain science and early attachments as well as relationship dynamics, adverse childhood experiences and modern stresses. I help them to assess their life situations, consider their perspective and develop strategies that positively enhance the many aspects of their life. I approach this work with passion and look for potential joy and laughter with each session as well as recognize the ongoing struggles toward emotional health my clients face.

I also provide psychological assessments and evaluations for courts, domestic violence, substance abuse, and adoption. I focus on your strengths to help you overcome obstacles. I am an expert in helping folks with life changes, depression, anxiety, crisis, addiction, trauma. I have taught psychology and counseling methods at several Universities. I am also a state expert and presenter on domestic violence and substance abuse. And I am the proud recipient of the 2015 Utah Domestic Violence Service Provider of the Year Award.
