As a psychotherapist and
Life
Coach I am trained in clinical social work as well as in exercise physiology. I understand how the mind, body and emotions are interconnected. When we are physically attuned, we are able to access deeper parts of ourselves. These deeper parts may be limiting due to old beliefs, negative behavior patterns, confusing emotions, and often times a combination of all three. Also, I bring to my clinical practice over 28 years experience in fitness and
coaching
team sports. Together we can work to set and achieve clear, obtainable
life
goals.

Generating a
life
that is true to you, living it well in an inspired and intentional way.
I am a Solution Focused Therapist working with individuals and couples. I have been in practice for 28 years. In my Solution Focused approach, a person looks at the issues/areas of
life
that need to be changed, and what habits, behaviors, actions and choices keep perpetuating these issues in your
life
or relationships. We look at when these issues are resolved, what will be different? What will you notice now that these issues are no longer on the emotional property of your
life
? What will others notice? What has stopped you in the past?

As an art psycho-therapist, I conduct a private practice utilizing the creative arts. In a collaborative venue, I serve children, adults, and families, focusing on an inquiry that unpacks the many potential ancestral gifts, talents, and/or current narratives that are challenging the weary client or family. Facilitating the transformation of harmful personal or familial patterns demands empathy and therapeutic skill; such patterns may be brought forward within a variety of unique
life
span experiences, growth opportunities or demanding transitions.

Life
is an ongoing process of aligning with our true authentic self. Without that alignment
life
can feel barren and meaningless. We feel stuck and unable to realize our visions and dreams. Yet, the capacity of the human spirit for creative and intuitive development is truly unlimited. Most of us however, use only a small fraction of that capacity. Through self-reflection and personal exploration we can gain an understanding of what limits this capacity.

My therapy and
coaching
work is based on a belief that we all long to experience love, connection, purpose, and peace in our lives. Symptoms that arise such as anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and physical illnesses signal a call to resolve and clear what is in the way of a happier
life
. My work embraces a holistic paradigm recognizing body, mind, and spirit, and focuses on helping clients learn to love and care for themselves as special and unique beings. Clearing out negative beliefs, healing emotional wounds, and eliminating toxic influences help clients live more authentic and empowered lives.

I coach my clients on creating the
life
they want within the
life
they have by bringing consciousness to their health.
I use a holistic framework to educate my clients about how and what to eat in order to feel energized, grounded and well nourished. I help them to create habits that support their health and wellness goals. This includes counseling and education around holistic nutrition, meal planning and the connection between food and mood. I help my clients to identify the core values in their lives and to understand how emotional eating can affect the realization of their goals. I help my clients develop strategies around food that support their vision for wellness in a meaningful and sustainable way.

We start by clarifying what your
life
will be like if we decide to work together and are successful. Then we ferret out the strategy you used to stay safe in your family and culture of origin. What you did then was useful (e.g. hiding, fighting, running away, lying) but likely no longer helps to manifest the
life
you long for today. Changing once useful ways of adopting is challenging and requires patience. Your primitive brain says "Don't change what kept you safe". Challenging that message creates anxiety so we practice ways to handle it.

I unable to see new clients at this time. My Santa Fe practice focuses on the process of rethinking one's
life
as the second half unfolds, including issues of midlife crisis and approaching retirement or, if already retired, finding and fostering a sense of vitality and fulfillment to this most important, likely quite lengthy, and absolutely unique stage in the
life
cycle. I believe the second half of
life
presents challenges and opportunities that are quite different from those we face in the first half. This is even more true of retirement as our expected lifespan lengthens.

I love working through challenging situations with people and I have found that most issues can be resolved over the course of a few weeks or months. My sessions are usually about 70 minutes because that's how long a complete and satisfying discussion takes. I don't intend to see you for nearly as long or as often as you think, and you might be surprised at the range of things I want to talk about. Your
life
is a lot more than your presenting complaint.

I help you reconnect to lost parts of yourself, uncover your inner wisdom, and find clarity to move through whatever
life
transition you're facing while staying true to what you value.
Your relationship is stressed or you're looking for one, you're restless in your career or you're searching for meaning. Your self-care has taken backseat to busyness and
life
has become about being mother, wife, or caretaker. You're feeling stagnant, uninspired, and worried the world is passing you by. Waking up in the morning and looking forward to your day seems like a distant reality. You want to change but feel paralyzed by uncertainty. It feels too hard on your own to get clear with what's missing in your relationship, your career, and your
life
or where to begin to make lasting, meaningful change that feels worth the effort.

life
. You have the strength to overcome whatever challenges
life
throws at you. No matter where you are in your journey, the next step is easier than you think.

We all want to feel joyfull and fullfilled in our lives and relationships. The 30+ years I have been in practice include running treatment centers for healing child abuse, teaching / college level, national seminars, and training other therapists. I am licensed as both a clinical social worker and an addictions therapist. My experience and training has also allowed me to integrate clinical knowledge and cultural ways of
life
from elders. I help people achieve change through insight and solutions based in consciousness of internal and external conflicts.

***We are accepting New Clients*** Finding a trusted therapist you connect with is one of the most important parts of your healing journey. Sometimes it’s overwhelming grief that brings us to counseling. At other times it’s a general malaise or undefined unhappiness. At times our sorrow or trauma is so dark we can barely breathe. Other times, we know there’s more to
life
, yet we are allowing it to pass us by. We don’t know how to re-engage, how to find that zest for
life
. Perhaps it's a spiritual awakening that's prompting you to seek support. We ALL need guidance and a safe space.

Do you feel stuck in patterns of behaviors that are self defeating? Do you feel like the color has gone out of your
life
? Are you longing for meaningful relationships but can't seem to create them? With every issue we confront, there's a tremendous opportunity for feeling revitalized. But to do this we must feel metaphorically held by another. That's where therapy comes in.

Life Coaching Therapists
What can I expect from life coaching?
Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.
Can a life coach help treat anxiety?
Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.
Can life coaching be done online?
Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.
How long does life coaching last?
Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
