I use attachment-based, polyvagal-informed, and somatic therapies (MBSEP, IFS-informed, mindfulness) to help you feel safer in your body and relationships.
Are you feeling stuck? To feel stuck emotionally, professionally, relationally and in thought patterns is a common experience of human beings. Let's work together to get unstuck: allowing your creativity to flow uninhibitedly, your emotions to become valuable and digest-able, your aspirations to become realities and your relationships to become more fulfilling. Providing online therapy for Ohio and New Mexico residents. In New Mexico I am able to accept Presbyterian Insurance and Presbyterian Turquoise Trail Medicaid. I specialize in Somatic Trauma Processing, an efficient way to move on from the past.

When we feel heard, seen, and understood, healing and growth are possible. I am here to create a safe space for you, or you and your partner, to explore and work with the struggles that are leading you to seek therapy. Most of us enter into partnership with the best intentions; we want to feel mutually satisfied, secure and supported in our relationship. After some time, old patterns take hold and we can find ourselves feeling disconnected, confused, or insecure in relationship. Therapy can help you get unstuck by offering an experience of being supported in ways that are uniquely tailored to help the growth of you and your partner.

I have received specialized training in dance movement therapy, Internal Family Systems, and attachment based models, all informed by polyvagal theory.
I’m interested in supporting your vitality – what brings you to life? My work as a somatic psychotherapist is rooted in a deep trust in the body’s innate orientation toward wholeness. We grow from our wounds, and it is necessary to get to know them, as uncomfortable as it is. Together, we discover their impact, and then build skills to better relate to your inner landscape. Through deep listening and compassionate curiosity we will unveil your needs. You will find your truth and agency.

I use a combination of cognitive, somatic, and compassion-based interventions, sprinkling in IFS techniques for good measure!
To treat stress-related disorders I use EMDR 2.0- a highly structured but tailored modality that first targets and destroys the emotionality, vividness, and negative beliefs of traumatic memories, then replaces those negative beliefs with new, supportive ones. We meet either in-person or online, focusing each time on specific, planned memories.

My treatment focus utilizes several crucial approaches: Jungian and Archetypal Psychology, the Expressive Arts, Internal Family Systems, cross-cultural Indigenous Wisdoms, and Energy and Ancestral Medicine.
I am a licensed Expressive Art Therapist in the state of New Mexico. As a transpersonal educator and psychotherapist, I have worked with families, individuals, and children for over 30 years. At the studio, I utilize a systems approach with a special focus on Jungian, Archetypal, and Indigenous lenses. The underlying intention of my work is to assist my clients in releasing the heavy burdens carried, whether they originated from childhood, societal, cultural, or ancestral wounding. Over the years, I have acquired many tools that assist in this process, such as creating art, engaging the body’s wisdom, movement, drumming, journeying.

Therapy is an organic process that gives support and guidance. Our experiences and beliefs about ourselves and the world create emotional holding patterns of behavior. When we face these with compassion for ourselves, we become freer and more peaceful. Self compassion is a key piece of moving into deeper self connection and self acceptance. If this kind of self intimacy interests you, please contact me to begin.

What does EMDR, IFS, CBT, and DBT mean
So, what do you do? How do you navigate all the different therapists? I say trust your gut. Which therapist’s page did you find yourself going back to? Where did you feel an instant connection? Maybe that therapist was me? Great! Maybe it was another therapist—that’s great too! The important thing is that you’ve found the right one for you.

You are not alone in experiencing times when you need extra support - ideally from someone who makes you feel safe, accepted, understood, and warmly cared about, as well as someone skilled in their craft. My clients experience me in this way. I am passionate about working with people who are dealing with a wide range of issues, including relationship difficulties, grief and loss, major transitions, depression, anxiety, addiction, co-dependence, and trauma. Research shows that no one therapeutic approach is more effective than another – rather, the relationship between client and therapist has the greatest impact on healing.

I help couples and individuals heal, grieve, grow, develop a healthy sense of self and experience their power cooperatively (rather than competitively). When you experience relational conflicts, grief, trauma, or infidelity, I listen with compassion to develop a therapeutic program to help you heal and grow to your greatest potential as an individual (and a couple). By helping you overcome grief, conflicts, trauma, and anxiety, you can successfully achieve some of your deepest desires and feel fulfilled. Healing and happiness often come after identifying, accepting, and learning how to realize those desires and needs.

You probably don't need more insight, you need change. From the outside, things look like they’re working. But certain patterns keep showing up. You procrastinate on work that matters to you. You replay conversations after they’re over. You might choose partners who need fixing or feel stuck between pushing yourself harder and feeling exhausted. People-pleasing, perfectionism, staying in control may have helped you get to where you are but now those patterns can start creating pressure in relationships, work, and daily life.

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
