People communicate in ways other than with words, so I offer a therapeutic space where play, art expression, and sand tray directives can be used as a medium for communication.
Everyone needs an understanding environment where they can express their truth. Issues such as grief, anxiety, substance use, and family conflict can cause mental and emotional distress to arise. Having a calm, nurturing environment to express emotions can foster a better relationship with oneself, which could lead to improved self-understanding, mood, self-esteem, and confidence.

If you work with me, you will be given a safe space to reflect and make meaning out of your past and present experiences and find hope for the future. My approach to therapy relies heavily on my warm presence and ability to empathize in a way that makes you feel seen and heard. I believe success in therapy starts with creating a strong foundation of trust. Through the process of building rapport and practicing the art of vulnerability, opportunities may arise for you to increase self-awareness and cultivate greater self-acceptance and self-love in order to make positive life changes.

Through experiential processes, such as art , movement, Gestalt therapy, inner child work, and if appropriate, cranial sacral therapy, you will expand your capacity to respond spontaneoulsy to the present moment, without reacting from past pain and trauma.
I am currently not accepting new clients. A moment of deeply connecting with oneself through an embodied experience can allow for spontaneous change, and eliminate the need for constant seeking of new insight or retelling of the story. I listen to both your words and body with deep respect and sensitivity. I accept you as you are. I will help you gather your resources and embody self-compassion and strength, which will enable you to slowly and gently process pain, stress, and trauma. Through our work together, you will experience being able to lovingly soothe the pain, instead of going towards addictive processes or substances.

As an adjunct to this model I utilize art therapy , mindfulness, and somatic practices to help clients re-parent themselves and live more functional and serene lives.
My passion is supporting clients who are navigating Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) and the wide range of symptoms that can manifest from this disorder including: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, avoidant behaviors, perfectionism, addiction issues (substance and behavior), relationship issues, codependency, and much more. Clients often times come to me at a loss for what’s causing their suffering (despite many attempts in therapy) only to find that unaddressed C-PTSD is at the core of their mental health issues.

I believe that the art -making process can serve as an “incubator” into your unconscious and provide valuable information toward your healing journey.
Are you looking for a non-traditional therapist? I integrate my spiritual life coaching training and the practice of art -making into the therapeutic process in a way that honors who you are wholistically. This wholistic approach is based on the psycho-spiritual therapeutic modality, which is grounded in the notion that “the soul is the starting point for balance.” This approach to treatment takes into consideration the WHOLE of who you are, be it physically, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, culturally, etc. and examines how your lived experiences have impacted your mental health.

I facilitate this process through dream work, art , insights, synchronicities, somatic psychotherapy, and active listening.
I work well with people who believe there is a hidden meaning or message in their struggles that can eventually serve as a path to a more soulful life. I see myself as a guide to help companion people through the underworld of depression, anxiety, and PTSD as well as a partner in transforming psychological suffering and intergenerational patterns into the medicine which can ultimately allow individuals and families to become more fully themselves. On the community level, I offer grief groups as well as climate support groups. Please see my website for more details.

Art Therapy , Sandtray Therapy, Body Wisdom Dialogue and Dreamwork are all tools that may assist you in your therapy process.
I work with individual adults, both men and women. Clients looking for new discoveries about themselves and seeking tools for change are a sampling of client needs that I work with. Clients will achieve greater clarity, as well as self- acceptance in our work together. I believe that we all have our own "inner healer," and I help individuals find this voice of truth inside themselves. Learning to trust this voice empowers clients to make decisions and choices that are right and true for them. Learning to release old behaviors that no longer serve creates healthy self-worth. I am happy to work by telehealth; location is not an issue.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
