Do you feel lost, confused or stuck, trying your best, but things never seem to change or get better? Do you feel so panicked, nervous or sad, that just getting through your day is a struggle? Are you a parent that has tried everything you can think of to help your child but nothing seems to be working? I understand how just getting out of bed in the morning can take all of your energy or how anxiety or difficult experiences from the past can make you terrified to take the next step. It can be hard to trust someone after being hurt and talking to a counselor may seem scary. However, things can get better!

I'm in-network with Presbyterian and BCBS.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, caring, and highly attuned to others. They may struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from their own needs. Often, they have experienced trauma, difficult relationships, or early experiences that taught them to prioritize others while losing touch with themselves.
Together, we explore the patterns that keep them stuck, strengthen self-awareness, and build a life rooted in authenticity, connection, and choice.

My goal is to help you find purpose and enjoyment in life again. Our experiences teach us ways to view and interact with the world and ourselves. These patterns of thinking and behavior can keep us emotionally stuck where we don’t want to be. Working together, I will give you the space to share your story without judgement and support you in identifying and changing the thoughts, behaviors, beliefs, and situations that are getting in the way of what you want and need in your life.

It takes courage and strength to reach out and seek a new perspective, and sharing our stories of personal trauma can lead to improved sense of well-being. The simple act of doing so can empower you to take the next step toward change and healing for you and your loved ones. An immediate sense of change is possible by merely taking the first step toward a new, healing relationship. I collaborate with my clients in a non-judgmental and respectful manner, working to accomplish their goals.

Dr. Gary "Skip" Ritter says he feels a connection when helping others develop insight to make positive changes in their lives. Skip believes that thoughts and feelings are the impetus that drive human behavior. His approach then to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Theory. In creating a paradigm shift from negative thoughts and feelings to increased positive thoughts and feelings, maladaptive behaviors often dissipate. Skip also believes that traumatic experiences exacerbate the lives of many of his clients and therefore, utilizes Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Many of my clients reach out at a breaking point—when emotions feel overwhelming, functioning is disrupted, and life may even feel at risk. They are often dealing with suicidal thoughts, acute stress, or major life disruption and need more than support—they need real treatment, quickly. I specialize in working with individuals in these critical moments, helping them stabilize, regain clarity, and begin moving forward with purpose.

Currently I am in network for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Presbyterian.
I recognize how vulnerable it can feel to reach out, share your life story, and trust someone new with your experiences. I hope to provide a space where you can feel seen, heard, and supported as you navigate whatever brought you here. I value curiosity, openness and a willingness to grow at your own pace. My approach is warm, direct, nonjudgmental, and rooted in genuine human connection. I believe the most powerful part of therapy is the relationship we build; within that strong, collaborative partnership, growth can occur.

Many of the clients I work with are navigating grief and loss. Sometimes this is the death of a loved one, and other times it’s a quieter, harder-to-name loss—loss of trust, safety, home, identity, independence, or the life you thought you would have. These experiences often show up as anxiety, depression, feeling stuck, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others. I also work with addiction and avoidance. I understand how overwhelming it can feel when coping strategies that once helped are no longer working. Together, we gently explore patterns of thought and behavior while building healthier ways to heal with new intention.

My ideal clients are people who are doing pretty well with life, but just need some extra insight into why they keep doing the same behaviors that they vow they will stop doing. Using strategies from Internal Family Systems, Cognitive behavior Therapy and looking at how your past attachments or trauma from childhood, continue to drive your choices. Together we will discover why you do the behaviors that do not serve you well, so that you can function at your optimal, authentic self while learning to love yourself and others better while letting go of the past.

You hold it together for everyone else, but lately you're wondering who is holding space for you. Perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. Maybe you've been carrying grief, navigating a difficult relationship, or trying to make sense of a life transition. From the outside, you appear strong and capable, but inside you're tired of carrying so much alone. Many of my clients are gutsy, resilient women who are ready to stop simply surviving and begin participating more fully in their own lives.
