Therapy is like tutoring, a little help to get through a stuck point, to polish up things, and then move on. We will look at what's not right and plan for something better, an updated plan. My clients appreciate that they aren't doomed & they aren't damaged, they just need an upgrade that matches where they are now. I also I supervise newly graduated therapists in Texas (LPC & LMFT) and New Mexico (LMHC) and teach them these skills.

Let's see what's not quite right, then figure out what better looks like. Most of my clients want to look forward, not backward- seems reasonable. First we assess what's going on. Then we describe what we want. More Good- Less Bad. Now we build a plan to go that direction. Let's get started.

Many of the individuals we walk with have faced deep challenges: trauma, addiction, grief, relationship struggles, or seasons where life felt overwhelming. Our role is to provide practical tools, therapeutic support, and a safe space to rebuild new habits that support long term emotional and spiritual well being. At the same time, we hold onto the truth that God restores, renews, and brings purpose out of pain.

I've had the unexpected privilege of working with diverse clients, including veterans, trans individuals, couples, families, and people navigating work and purpose.
The life you built looks right, but it doesn't feel like yours anymore. You know the stories behind your patterns, yet the distance between you and the people you love keeps growing. More understanding won't close that gap. You need someone to help you stop navigating by old maps to clear the noise, trust yourself again, and build something that actually feels like home

You may carry stories etched in your body—echoes of loss, trauma, or disconnection. Perhaps you’ve learned to survive by shrinking, overgiving, numbing, or staying quiet. Maybe you often find yourself in dysfunctional relationships or reenacting your wounds onto others. Yet, you long to come home to yourself, to feel safety, belonging, and the freedom to live fully. Many of my clients come to me feeling exhausted or hopeless after therapy that hasn’t helped. As a trauma survivor myself, I understand that pain and draw from my own recovery experience in supporting you.

I focus on adults of all ages who are experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss as well as those trying to understand relationships and the events that have shaped them. I hope to provide a safe environment in which to develop and explore insights that will encourage and enable growth and well-being. I will endeavor to help identify motivations, desires and personal ethics and the facility to express them. My frame of reference is largely psychodynamic (meaning that the unconscious mind affects conscious feelings, thoughts and behavior) but may draw from other orientations when suitable.

Together, we consider how your history, community, family, culture, and socio-political systems interact with your intersecting identities to shape your well-being, challenges, and capacity for resilience.
My role is to support you in exploring the unique system of your psyche so you may experience greater agency, connection, and self-trust in your life. I believe each person carries an innate capacity to heal. Many of my clients are working through depression and anxiety related to trauma, grief, or major transitions. I enjoy supporting artists, students, parents, caregivers, and perinatal clients; those curious about unearthing old (often inherited) patterns to create personal and systemic change.

I work with individuals, couples, and families from children through older adults, offering fully virtual sessions throughout New Mexico.
Seeking therapy is one of the most compassionate things you can do for yourself. We all carry experiences that shape how we move through the world, how we cope, how we connect, and how we see ourselves. Those experiences do not make you broken or beyond help. They make you human, and they make this work meaningful. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and I offer a warm, identity-affirming space where you feel safe to slow down, get curious, and explore what you need.

My approach to therapy is psychodynamic. Finding a sense of purpose in order to fulfill one's destiny is the goal of all therapy. Creating and discovering a sense of meaning as well as removing obstacles to self realization are the focus of the process. I work with issues of depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma as well as focusing on the means to achieve peace in relationships. Working through the experience of trauma is often facilitated by a partnership where trust is built between therapist and client. I am experienced in treating issues of grief.

Are you feeling weighed down by trauma, grief, anxiety, chronic stress, or burnout? Maybe you're noticing cycles or patterns repeating in your life or relationships, even though you're ready for change. You may have learned to survive by quieting your own needs - taking care of others, people-pleasing, over-giving, shrinking, or holding it all together for everyone else. In our work together, we create space to slow down - becoming attuned to your nervous system, & tending to the parts of you that have carried so much for so long. You'll learn to relate to your internal experiences with more presence, compassion, & choice.

FAQ - About Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
