I commonly see people with concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and grief. In session, we will look at what you are hoping to get from the counseling experience and collaboratively discover what will work for your situation, which may involve getting unstuck from emotional and/or behavioral issues. My orientation includes considering our relationships to life. We will take into account relational factors, which may include environments, people, culture, expectations and roles. The therapy process may assist you in gaining a deeper understanding of your values and skills, toward transformative change.

Hello, my name is Violet. I work with individuals, couples and families who may be struggling with something that they need to change, or who just need to engage in thinking differently about a problem. I am not here to judge anyone, I practice from the perspective that we all deal with things the best that we can, and when we learn better strategies, we do better. Let me help you to learn better strategies.

Currently accepting new clients! The thought of finding a therapist you trust, feel safe, and comfortable with can be overwhelming but so is the alternative: living with fear, frustration, uncertainty, and confusion. I'm always amazed at the courage my clients show as they move from a painful existence to one of hope and joy as they gain the tools necessary to create the life they want. I utilize a systems-based approach with all of my clients, including individuals, couples, and families.

Using a structured, research-based approach grounded in the Gottman Method (I am currently pursuing certification), I help partners break out of negative cycles, navigate conflict more effectively, and strengthen emotional intimacy.
My ideal clients are couples who feel stuck in painful or repetitive patterns but still want to make things work. They may be facing conflict, disconnection, communication struggles, or life transitions like parenthood or stress. They come in knowing something isn’t working, but hoping it can improve. I help couples slow down these patterns, feel heard, and learn practical tools to communicate more effectively, navigate conflict, and rebuild connection—creating a relationship that feels more secure, supportive, and fulfilling for both partners.

I believe therapy should be a space that feels safe, real—and sometimes even fun. Too often, it's seen as something scary or heavy. I aim to change that by creating a space where laughter, honesty, and self-discovery can coexist. Therapy isn't just for crisis—it's for growth, clarity, and connection. My goal is to break the stigma, remove the fear, and make the process something you can actually look forward to.

I draw on a range of evidenced-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, I tailor our work to what fits you-your history, your nervous system, and your goals. Whether you're working through the aftermath of trauma, trying to make sense of recurring relationship patterns, or simply feeling like something needs to change, I'll meet you where you are.

You may be curious about how therapy can help them heal or improve. Together we can collaborate on solutions to issues in your life. You can also start with the intention to work on reaching new goals. I often help clients in creating boundaries that promote healthier relationships and communication. The therapy process is a nonjudgmental space to process feelings or to receive support while acclimating to changes.

The uncertainty of healing from within can be challenging due to feeling stuck triggered by fear and loss of control. Struggling with the stressors of life often leads to anxiety, depression, grief, and addiction. With compassion and empathy, vulnerability can be empowering when you feel safe and secure enough to regulate negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Collaborating together to prioritize your genuine mental and emotional needs is the main approach in which to foster personal growth.

Gottman Method Therapists
How does the Gottman method work?
One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?
Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?
Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
