My counseling practice includes adults and adolescents. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Non-violent Communication, Sand Tray Therapy and in EMDR. I believe that as people become more accepting of themselves, they are more capable of finding happiness and contentment in their lives. If counseling is successful, you should feel that you are able to face life's challenges in the future better than you could before and can face life's challenges in the future without my support or intervention.

I believe no one lives in a vacuum. That's why I'll be asking about you and your relationships with family and friends. Your children don't live in a vacuum, either. In working with them, you'll be included in parts or all of their sessions. My practice is called the Rio Rancho Family Counseling Center. When you're seeing me alone or as a couple, you determine when and what problems to talk about and how fast and how deep we go. I draw on several methods of therapy because my practice is patient oriented and patient directed.

Our owner is an AASECT certified sex therapist who has spent the majority of her career addressing issues related to sex and sexuality. Understanding emotions, behaviors, and beliefs through a variety of theoretical models can bring awareness, calm, and clarity. I will offer practical techniques to help with depression, anxiety, stress management and suggestions that will support you in learning to better regulate your emotions, overcome obstacles, and form the steps you need to achieve your goals and create lasting change.

When words aren't enough. Whether the client is a child, a teen, an adult or a family, I find offering non-verbal therapies, expressive therapies such as art therapy and Sandplay often enhances my client's ability to solve problems, enable expression of feelings, and communicate with self and others. I have been a registered art therapist for many years and in the last twenty I have expanded that base by becoming a Certified Teaching member of the Sandplay Therapists of America.
