Life patterns can be difficult to change. I understand what fuels these patterns, how they can be passed from generation to generation, and how to transform them. When we don't know what it is that needs to change, we buy into the belief that we can't change. Many of these non-conscious relationship and communication styles show up as unwanted life patterns that are difficult to recognize in ourselves. We can educate ourselves and be more intentional about creating fulfilling relationships and engaging fully in our life purpose and passions.

Using EMDR, DBT, mindfulness, and attachment-focused approaches, I help clients understand longstanding patterns, process painful experiences, and develop practical skills for creating meaningful, lasting change.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, caring, and highly attuned to others. They may struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from their own needs. Often, they have experienced trauma, difficult relationships, or early experiences that taught them to prioritize others while losing touch with themselves. Together, we explore the patterns that keep them stuck, strengthen self-awareness, and build a life rooted in authenticity, connection, and choice.

I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, life transitions, or questions about identity and meaning. I have a particular interest in relationship work and in the ways our relationships can teach us about ourselves. I’m curious about the patterns we bring into relationships, the ways we connect with others, and how working through conflict can create opportunities for greater understanding and intimacy.

Hi, I am the owner of Reclaiming Wellness and although I am not accepting new clients currently, we do have immediate openings with other therapists! Please visit our website to read our therapist bios and learn more about us or call us today! Many times in life we develop behaviors and patterns as a means to cope because this is all we have at the moment. Although these methods may no longer serve you, change is difficult. This is where therapy can offer the opportunity to heal painful wounds of the past, while developing healthier coping skills for today.

Self image, choice, boundaries, and awareness are the building blocks to living the life you want. Increasing awareness about the things that aren't working. Recognizing the things we have control over and what your choices are. Building a positive self image and accepting your whole self, flaws and all. Setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, being aware of where you end and others begin. It is within all of us to create the life we are meant to live even when things get really hard. I work to teach you skills to make life better with empathy, warmth, and compassion. I am not the expert of your life, you are.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
