Perhaps you’re at a point where you are frustrated and tired of starting over with a new therapist. You’re tired of telling your story over and over again and not experiencing any relief. You’re tired of taking all these medications and being numb. And you’re tired of your past trauma disrupting your everyday life. Perhaps you’re wondering if you’re ever going to heal and feel better. You CAN heal. The therapist’s job is to help facilitate the healing process that lies within you. To heal from trauma, you don’t have to talk about the details of what has happened to you (unless you find it helpful).

I have 8+ years working with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and experiences relating to LGBTQA+ and BIPOC communities.
Not everything can be expressed with words. Imagery, movement, and sound are tools I use alongside talk-therapy to explore past the limitations of the mind and into the intuitive wisdom of the body and imagination. I am also trained in yoga facilitation and meditation, which allows for the option of incorporating body-oriented techniques within session.

I am trained in Somatic Experiencing, Hypnotherapy, Sexuality, Trauma, Grief, and EMDR, I offer a body-centered, relational talk psychodynamic mix of therapy that works directly with the nervous system to release deep-seated trauma, restore a sense of safety, and create lasting change while exploring your history and patterns and how they effect you today.
You don’t have to continue feeling this way. If you feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, overwhelm, or disconnection, you may be carrying unresolved trauma that talk therapy alone hasn’t fully addressed. Maybe you long to feel safe in your own skin, to break free from old survival responses, or to reconnect with your body, emotions, loved ones, and sense of self in a deeper way. You want all of this and you want a warm, comfortable support to help you heal at your own pace. I offer a trauma informed body-centered approach that is combined with relational talk therapy, which allows us to explore your past and where you want to go.

My client population ranges from teens into late adulthood and focuses on chronic stress, depression, grief and loss, acute and complex trauma, and life transitions.
For 3 years, prior to moving into private practice, I worked as an inpatient residential psychotherapist, specializing in PTSD, trauma, sexual abuse, and relationship issues. I’ve learned that most of our unhelpful and problematic patterns stem from behaviors that helped us survive through our childhood and early adulthood.

I work with adolescents and adults struggling through depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance abuse, college and life transition anxieties and cultural issues.
Sometimes it is difficult when we find ourselves in situations and relationships, doing, thinking and feeling the same thing again and again. People come to therapy to develop increased self-awareness, to understand what is happening inside and get to the root of problems that interfere with accomplishing goals and developing a healthy, satisfying life. Therapy is a place where you can be heard and understood without judgement that supports you to change old patterns of behavior, thought and feelings, and to make different choices in life. Therapy is worth the time, and the investment because you are worth getting to know.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
