Frustrated at not knowing what is going on, feeling like you are going crazy, and having those around you not understand your struggles. There are always those who say, "Put the past behind you and move on; smile and think positive thoughts and you will feel better." Unfortunately, these people only add to the frustration of an already hard situation. At times you may wonder if things will ever get better and if you will ever gain any control over your life. You also need a therapist who understands that your time is precious and you need practical ways of dealing with the day to day problems mental health issues create.

Feeling the silent weight of unsaid things? Or perhaps, as a dedicated professional, you're shouldering immense responsibility while forging your own path. Finding someone who truly gets it can feel overwhelming. My promise is simple: I'm not here to fix you. I'm here to understand, to hold space, and to walk alongside you as you sort through the messy, brilliant, deeply human parts of your story. You just need to be exactly where you are, and we'll start there.

Clients have told me I was the first therapist they could really connect with. I believe that’s because I see therapy as a space for genuine human connection, especially when you feel like a bystander in your own life. It’s that painful sense of watching things happen to you, of being misunderstood, of battling the enemy that sometimes lives between your ears. If you feel like you've lost the thread of your own story while navigating life's messy transitions or the weight of anxiety, please know: you are not alone, you are not broken, and you are right where you need to be. Change is possible.

That constant feeling you’re justifying your existence. The exhaustion of code-switching, of making yourself smaller to feel safe, of checking all the right boxes only to feel like you don’t fit in any of them. If you’ve moved through the world with layered identities—as a BIPOC individual, a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, or a survivor of unstable systems—I see you. This is your space to stop performing. My work is dedicated to helping you embrace your own complexity and find healing not by changing who you are, but by becoming more fully yourself. You deserve a place where every part of your story is welcome.

Are you someone who feels overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck and is trying their best to overcome these feelings? My own journey as a collegiate track athlete taught me the importance of having a place to feel safe and be met with unconditional positive regard. I try my best to help those that may be navigating anxiety, performance anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, or feeling uncertain about who they are or where they’re headed in life. I help clients navigate how to enjoy everyday moments again, feel more in control of their emotions, and understand themselves with greater compassion to become the best version of themselves.

I am an expert in mental health who helps clients reduce depression, anxiety, ADHD symptoms, and Hypomania symptoms while making major life transitions in the domains of career and employment, important relationships, and grief/loss. Developing an identity and self that believes in change towards wellness is where we begin. I challenge clients, I ask questions, I direct, and I redirect. I hold a few spaces on my calendar for women who want to understand the impact of chaotic childhoods and childhood trauma, where the threat of violence was too often present.

United Medical Resources (UMR) Therapists
Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy. Learn more about Insurance Coverage and Finding Affordable Therapy
