I am passionate about helping people! I believe in a person-centered, strengths-based approach. As a multi-racial, multi-cultural social worker, I bring a unique set of skills to working with people -we are all different, and we deserve to be seen and understood as we are. I specialize in trauma and PTSD and have extensive experience with co-occurring/dual-diagnosis conditions. I also enjoy working with people from all walks of life, in all stages of life: women, men, non-binary people, LGBTQAI+ people, teens, and children. I enjoy helping people find their way and finding out more about who they are and how they are in the world.

I help people to find and follow their highest path. Depending on the person, this could mean: Making peace with their past; Solving problems in the present; or Expanding their horizons for the future. It is my goal for my clients to move into the harmony they want to have in their lives. As a psychologist, I combine Western and Indigenous approaches to look at Body, Emotions, Mind, Spirit, and Relationships so that my clients can heal and grow on all levels.

I am a warm and compassionate person who speaks from the heart. I understand that some things are not easy to talk about and sometimes we just don’t know where to start. I do know that the unresolved issues from the past will continue to show up in our lives regardless of how much we try to ignore them. In my work as a trauma specialist, I’ve found that a lot of people are not aware of the impact that these past negative experiences can have on our relationships and day-to-day interactions with others. I am able to help educate clients more about what they’re experiencing.

I've passionately served the NM queer community for the past 8 years. I work with adults struggling with generalized and social anxiety, trauma, depression, change of life/adjustment issues, grief & loss, and LGBTQ+ concerns (coming out, gender identity, transitioning, living an authentic life). The pandemic has changed everything --from the way we work and socialize to the way we do therapy. It's made therapy more solution-focused, trauma-informed, and necessary. If you're feeling fractured, disenfranchised, or displaced, now is the time to pick up the pieces and rebuild a healthier life! Now is the time to heal.

"The therapeutic relationship is central to the process of change and growth in psychotherapy. I strive to create the trust and support that is essential to reaching therapeutic goals. The psychotherapy process involves identifying and working through areas of difficulty, along with removing obstacles that get in the way of living a more satisfying, authentic, and meaningful life. I believe there is an inherent wisdom within each of us, but we sometimes become lost and lose our connection. With warmth, understanding, and mutual respect, I join the client as an ally on the journey toward healing."

I enjoy the opportunity to journey alongside others--to observe moments of awakening, to be able to witness transformations, to have others trust me with those journeys. If you are feeling stuck in patterns you want to change, I am a kind, creative, collaborative therapist that can help you shift that pattern. We can all get stuck feeling anxious or depressed and don't know which way to move to begin to change. I work well with teens and adults who are stuck and interested in growing and learning- and need some support along the way. I am multilingual in Spanish, Portuguese and English and welcome clients in all these languages.

"Attachment" ..... just more psychobabble, right? Well, no, not really. Since the 1950's, people have been interested in what "attachment" means when we're thinking about how to have relationships, of all kinds. Our very first relationship(s) are the ones that really form a foundation for our ability to relate to others, so the theory goes. Only now, there's a lot more research using brain-imaging techniques that help us "shrinks" know we're on the right track when thinking about attachment as an important part of helping people learn how to develop, maintain and thrive in relationships.

You exist within cultures, systems, and contexts that impact your health, wellbeing, and sense of who you are. Gender inequality, incarceration, racial inequality, LGBTQ discrimination, medical bias, financial insecurity, housing insecurity, etc. impacts our ability to thrive. We experience trauma within these systems and are left believing it's our own fault. Our own weakness. Our own problem to deal with. You are not alone! Navigating an unjust society is exhausting and you want to do more than survive and "get by". You want to thrive and live with integrity knowing that you exist and have a right to live with dignity.

How can I find a therapist in Albuquerque?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
