Healing is a tender negotiation with the past: honoring the armor that once kept us safe, then learning to set it down, piece by piece, as we realize it has grown too heavy to carry. I’m a neurodivergent (Au-DHD) online therapist and therapeutic coach in Wisconsin who only works with very special clients (like you). As a therapist under supervision, my clients come from Colorado, Oregon, New Mexico, Washington, and Wisconsin. As a coach, I see clients from anywhere. I work with individuals, couples, polycules, families, and groups ranging in age from 10 years old to end-of-life.

Therapy in Motion: Walking • Storytelling • Movement • Creative Exploration You do not have to be good. You only have to show up. That’s the spirit of Wild Geese by Mary Oliver, and it’s the heart of my work. If you’re tired of therapy that feels like a test you could fail — this space is different. Our sessions might happen on a walking trail, with your dog trotting beside you. They might unfold through movement or dance, through the stories you tell, or even through Dungeons & Dragons adventures that reveal your inner heroes and shadows. I believe healing happens when we move, create, and play — not just when we talk about pain.

There is plenty of suffering in our world. Anxiety, depression and other mental ailments are on the rise. People feel more isolated than ever and thinking they might be the only person who feels the way they do. They suffer in silence. We suffer many times at the hands of our Ego. Ego wants this or doesn’t want that. We feel anxiety or bad mood and we do everything we can to push it away. We don’t want to feel it so we insulate ourselves from it. The paradox is that the more you push something away the stronger it gets. We have created strategies and defenses to keep ourselves moving but in the end they just don't work.

Your eldering can and should be vibrant and happy. For a long time, we believed development stopped when an individual entered adulthood. This is far from true. Not all the transitions of middle and later life are easy or welcome. No one has to feel depressed, alone, bored, isolated and forgotten. I support individuals, couples, families and caregivers as they navigate the important transitions of later life. Later life is a time of dynamic personal change and growth.

I was born in New Mexico and have lived in several parts of the state before settling in Albuquerque and beginning my work as a Mental Health Clinician. The foundation of my work is in building an empathetic connection with you as a client and understanding that you are an expert in your experience and unique perspective. As a multiply Neuro-Diverse clinician, I value a bottom-up approach - collaborating with you to build a foundation of self-knowledge and self-empowerment. I value introspection and deep self-awareness in line with a person-centered approach.

What is a secular and non religious approach in therapy?
Secular or non-religious therapy is a theoretical orientation used by many therapists and describes a therapeutic approach that does not rely on any specific religious or faith-based beliefs in the therapeutic process. Secular counselors will often approach therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients, instead of relying on religious practices, such as prayer or belief in God.

Is secular therapy primarily for non-religious people?
Both religious and non-religious individuals can benefit from secular therapy. People exploring their religious or spiritual beliefs may find it especially useful to work with a secular therapist who is unbiased toward any specific religion. While religious individuals might value the connection and familiarity of seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs, secular counseling can offer them the chance to develop coping skills independent of their religious practice, which can be beneficial in various aspects of their lives.

Can a secular approach to therapy help with religious trauma?
One major reason clients may seek a secular therapist is to process previous religious experiences, including religious trauma. Secular therapists can help clients manage symptoms of the trauma through practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They can also encourage clients through talk therapy or psychodynamic approaches to explore the roots of their religious trauma. Since secular therapists do not have any predetermined religious beliefs, they can be particularly helpful for clients looking to explore their own religious beliefs following a history of religious trauma.

What does non religious marriage and premarital counseling involve?
Marriage and premarital counseling typically involves a couple meeting with a therapist to discuss topics such as planning for marriage, navigating a new marriage, addressing relationship challenges, and developing better communication and conflict resolution skills. Non-religious therapists assist couples in achieving these goals without adhering to specific religious beliefs or frameworks, often emphasizing inclusivity and non-judgment, especially for "nontraditional" couples. However, seeking couples therapy from a non-religious counselor does not mean religious topics are off-limits. In fact, non-religious couples from different religious backgrounds may benefit from a secular therapist who remains neutral toward the beliefs of each partner.
