My therapeutic methods include a combination of CBT, ERP (Exposure Response Prevention, the "Gold Standard" for OCD),
Psychodynamic
(insight oriented therapies), as well as other evidence based interventions proven to provide the best opportunity for recovery and healing.
"The therapeutic relationship is central to the process of change and growth in psychotherapy. I strive to create the trust and support that is essential to reaching therapeutic goals. The psychotherapy process involves identifying and working through areas of difficulty, along with removing obstacles that get in the way of living a more satisfying, authentic, and meaningful life. I believe there is an inherent wisdom within each of us, but we sometimes become lost and lose our connection. With warmth, understanding, and mutual respect, I join the client as an ally on the journey toward healing."

psychodynamic
and 12-Step models in my practice.
I enjoy helping people who want to change. I understand we all get "stuck". I believe that connection is a necessary part of treatment. Clients describe me as “warm, honest, direct, open, helpful and flexible.” I take a no-nonsense approach to therapy. I have been on both sides of the therapy “couch” and know what it is like to share your inner-most fears, secrets, and goals with a therapist. I do not expect your trust. I will earn it. I believe therapy is a two-way street, and I will work with you. There is no magic or mystery, I will let you know what I think and how I can help.

I approach problems from a trauma-focused lens and help clients explore how past experiences are influencing their present circumstances; therefore, I use attachment-based and
psychodynamic
interventions.
I work with teenagers and young adults by providing non-judgmental support, guidance through challenges, and help with building a sense of empowerment. Building therapeutic rapport that allows clients to open up can take time, and I’m able to make space for that. I work best with clients who have experienced problems relating to anxiety, attachment trauma, complex trauma, depression, life transitions, and relationship issues. I work to provide a holding space and allow clients to choose the direction and pace of therapy. I'm open to working with clients on a short-term or long-term basis, depending on their needs and/or preferences.

I hold the belief that all humans have the innate capacity to grow towards greater health and healing. I believe woundings arise to heal when the psyche is ready to embark on the journey. I use an integrative approach that is rooted in
psychodynamic
and jungian orientation. Jungian work can often hold space in welcoming the unconscious to integrate more with the conscious. It is a dance of integration for the whole self, welcoming in dreams, shadows, archetypes and the like.
Psychodynamic
work can often look and examine the root of behaviors and woundings, connecting the past with the present.

I believe that throughout our lifetime each of us is called to discover and integrate who we truly are. We’re called to uncover our true nature(s) beneath the debris of trauma and old conditioning. We’re called to set ourselves free. This process of integration is central to long-lasting wellness because it is precisely from this place that we’re able to participate fully in our lives and our relationships. Through the process of integration, we get to discover parts we have forgotten, we get to grow a capable inner parent and we get to connect with and heal our inner child.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
