Clients have told me I was the first therapist they could really connect with. I believe that’s because I see therapy as a space for genuine human connection, especially when you feel like a bystander in your own life. It’s that painful sense of watching things happen to you, of being misunderstood, of battling the enemy that sometimes lives between your ears. If you feel like you've lost the thread of your own story while navigating life's messy transitions or the weight of anxiety, please know: you are not alone, you are not broken, and you are right where you need to be. Change is possible.

You’re human. And sometimes being human feels overwhelming, heavy, or confusing. I believe healing works best when it feels safe, supportive, and real — not clinical or distant. Whether it’s trauma, old patterns, or life just feeling stuck, I help people reconnect to themselves, build clarity, and feel more grounded and expansive. You may be someone who feels that what you're carrying is layered—emotional, relational, and sometimes generational. You’re likely seeking not just coping skills, I offer pathways to deeper understanding, nervous system support, and meaningful integration that helps you feel rooted in yourself again.

My ideal client is the individual or couple who is ready to be transparent and honest, to learn about and work on painful issues, ready to confront problem thinking, communication, behavior, family of origin dynamics, personal habits, wounds, and in a consistently supportive environment. Having practiced in many settings over 3 decades, I’m well trained and very experienced. I’m also human!, intuitive and empathetic. Clients tell me I’m gentle but strong, exceptionally warm, authentic, keenly perceptive, direct, and a consistently safe place for the expression of their feelings and thoughts, mistakes and triumphs.

Dr. Meghan B. Morris, Director of Mind Garden Therapy New Mexico, LLC, envisions the therapeutic process like tending a garden in which seeds are planted in our minds: we are able to nurture our environments to allow growth and change in ways that see our dreams and potential flourish like flowers. She has extensive experience in working with survivors of sexual and physical abuse, worked for many years with refugees and genocide survivors overseas, and has expertise in working through the traumas of complex and forced migrations. She also sees a growing number of clients struggling with difficult pregnancies and births.

Hello and welcome! I am a therapist and fellow human based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. My goal is to be with and support my clients as they grapple with the reality of challenges such as trauma, anxiety, stress, grief, and depression. I work with people who have worked hard for the lives that they have, have gone through some very difficult experiences, and are searching for meaning in the midst of everything. A central question that all of my clients work with is, "What makes up a meaningful life, and how do I find that meaning?” I use a trauma informed and emotion focused approach.

Reaching out for therapy takes courage, especially when you’re feeling anxious, depressed, grieving a loss, or weighed down by relationship stress or past experiences that still affect your present life. I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns they can’t quite understand but know something needs to change. You might be navigating a life transition, healing from old wounds, or learning how to communicate more effectively with your partner.

Life gets “lifey,” and even the most put-together adults and high achieving professionals can feel anxious, stuck, or deeply disconnected. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who helps adults navigate the messy, in-between spaces of life — when something’s not working anymore, but it’s hard to know what comes next. Internally you're overwhelmed, anxious, or weighed down by depression or burnout. Maybe you're questioning a relationship, stuck in patterns entrenched in your family system, or dealing with the impact of past trauma or active addiction — either your own or someone else’s.

I have the ability to treat almost any concern you bring to the table. I have extensive history in treating trauma, low self-esteem/worth, and self-harming/suicide involvement. I love seeing adolescents, but I will see anyone between the ages of 12-100 (okay, and above 100). I want to ensure your safety, increase your self-worth, and assist with getting to the root cause of your difficulties/current struggles.

My journey as a therapist has been deeply rooted in advocacy, support, and empowerment within the LGBTQ+ community and of communities of color. With a commitment to fostering inclusivity and understanding, I have cultivated a practice that prioritizes the voices and experiences of those often marginalized or underserved. I recognize the importance of culturally competent care and the impact of systemic inequalities in mental health. I provide a culturally responsive approach to therapy, addressing issues such as identity, discrimination, intergenerational trauma, and acculturation.

Immediate Openings Available! I work with clients to create a safe place to process what is happening in your life, build a therapeutic relationship, and look at the whole self: spiritual, physical and emotional. Feeling safe enough to look at what's not working in your life right now, and having a therapist with the wide range of skills to help you shift in the areas you want to, can make all the difference. We can all often not feel assertive and or able to be connected in relationships, and I can help you connect to yourself and your intuition to shift patterns that aren't serving you.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
