I enjoy helping people who want to change. I understand we all get "stuck". I believe that connection is a necessary part of treatment. Clients describe me as “warm, honest, direct, open, helpful and flexible.” I take a no-nonsense approach to therapy. I have been on both sides of the therapy “couch” and know what it is like to share your inner-most fears, secrets, and goals with a therapist. I do not expect your trust. I will earn it. I believe therapy is a two-way street, and I will work with you. There is no magic or mystery, I will let you know what I think and how I can help.

Sometimes life gets complicated and the uncertainty and options can be overwhelming. I am a firm believer in creating accommodations and striving for self-compassion and acceptance. If you're ready to begin getting unstuck, I'll meet you where you're at and help guide you to where you want to be. I believe that we as humans are wired for connection and at times unhealthy relationships are all we know. Sometimes even the most unhealthy relationship that we have, is the one that we have with ourselves. I take a compassionate approach to build self-esteem so you can become the best version of yourself.

Are you overwhelmed trying to keep up with life’s demands? You might feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, sadness, or self-doubt—comparing yourself to others, feeling behind, or just emotionally worn out. You’re not alone. Maybe trauma still affects your mind, body, and relationships. Maybe you rely on substances or habits that once helped but now hold you back. Change is hard—especially when old coping patterns no longer serve you.

Are substances (drugs, alcohol, cigarettes) or behaviors and processes (food, gambling, gaming, sex) beginning to or already have interfered with your happiness, functionality, relationships and/or simply just stopped working to give you the relief they once did? Are you questioning the role these things play in your life and your relationship with them? Do the words; unbalanced, compulsion, lack of control, addiction or crazy come to mind when thinking of these elements of your life? Are anxiety and depression also part of this experience?

You have it together on the outside - but internally, things feel heavy, confusing, or disconnected. Maybe your relationships feel strained, you're stuck in the same patterns, or you're carrying anxiety, past hurt, or emotional overwhelm that just won't let up. Many of my clients are thoughtful and ready to better understand themselves - not just cope. In our work together I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore your patterns, strengthen your sense of self, and build more secure, meaningful connections so you can feel more grounded, clear, and connected in your life and relationships.

When the world feels overwhelming and your sensitivity is seen more as a weakness than a strength it can leave you feeling depressed, anxious and questioning where you truly belong. Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
