I’m interested in working with folks living with chronic pain, chronic illness, other disabilities, as well as people navigating issues relating to LGBTQ+ identities.
Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with can be hard, especially when you’re living with health challenges or navigating identity. I’m a pre-licensed professional social worker currently seeing adult clients under supervision. I aim to offer care that’s affirming, respectful, and rooted in real understanding. Clients describe me as soft-spoken, easy to talk to, and a good listener. I’m also someone who values direct communication over unspoken subtleties.

I specialize in working with people who are seeking to heal from childhood sexual abuse, or sexual assault at any point on the life continuum, personality disorders, narc abuse, chronic illness and CPTSD.
I know what it's like to feel stuck in the past. I know what it feels like to suspect that you are beyond help, or the capacity to heal. I know how scary those places can be. But the fact that you're here, means that you haven't lost hope. Welcome, and I am so happy you are here. Healing the mind can take many different forms. It can look like building a stronger and safer sense of Self. Or a deeper acceptance of all the "parts" that make your mind what it is. It often also means bringing our bodies into the story. Rewiring the brain with gentle compassion and patience takes time, but it is possible.

Is it time for you to feel free from stress and anxiety? Is it time to make changes to old patterns that no longer serve you? Hypnosis is a transformative process where the therapist and participant work collaboratively to achieve the desired outcome. The therapist helps the person tap into inner resources and strengths that can aid in the healing process. The expectancy of the outcome is important and both parties work together to help reach desired results. The sessions are recorded for the participants to listen to and practice on their own.

The people I work with often come to me because they are looking to gain insight into emotional patterns, address difficult dynamics, and develop more balanced relationships with themselves or others. Together we paint a picture of their life stories, work to integrate the various aspects of themselves, and move towards the life they want to be living. We take the time to explore the context and history of the problem or symptom they are experiencing in order to better address it. I work with people of all ages and backgrounds and promote authentic expression and reflection in the therapy room.

OCD can be a very challenging condition, but help is available. Unfortunately, many people with OCD often go years undiagnosed or pursuing ineffective treatments, such as conventional talk therapy. OCD requires a specialized approach to get the relief and results you deserve. This approach is called Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) and it's considered the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD. Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) is the primary method I use to treat OCD. I have OCD myself and have undergone this form of treatment, which can be truly transformational if you're motivated.

For 21 years I have been a psychotherapist in private practice. I also ran a prescription management practice for several years so I understand the role of medication. At this time I want to work with clients who are driven to grow and heal. Often people come to therapy because they find themselves lost and confused in their lives. My clients tell me they appreciate my "warm heart" and rational mind because together we create a path for them to move forward with grace. It is most important to me that you learn who you are and how to be the happiest, healthiest, kindest and most successful you that is possible.

I help those that are struggling with life transitions, chronic illness, anxiety, relationships, grief/loss and childhood trauma.
The human experience is a tapestry woven with threads of joy, sorrow, fear, and hope. No one is immune to the trials of life—heartache, loss, insecurities, and traumas both big and small touch us all. Yet, within this shared vulnerability lies the profound strength of resilience, a quality that does not simply seek to overcome adversity but instead transforms it into a catalyst for growth and evolution.

Chronic Illness Therapists
How does therapy for chronic illness work?
Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?
Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?
No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?
There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
