**In-person and teletherapy sessions offered** When feeling the need for help emotionally, reaching out for support can be very difficult. This is why my main objective in working with clients is to make them feel comfortable and understood. Often times, we deal with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, health issues, etc. without much emotional support, which is ironically when it feels we need it most. My therapy techniques take a collaborative, holistic approach so that I can understand my client and provide them with measurable, long-lasting change for an improved overall state of well-being.

Hi there! As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Therapist with several years in the field, I work with Adults experiencing depression, anxiety, low self esteem, life adjustments, and more. Majority of my work has been spent centering the needs and care of Black and Brown identified individuals from underserved and marginalized communities. As a Black Therapist with a shared experience I can resonate with the frustration of not being able to show up authentically. Which is why it's important to hold space for folk to do just that. You belong and you deserve to take up space. LGBTQIA+ allied. Glad you stopped by!

A time comes in everyone's life when we need to do some growth & healing work. Thankfully the ability to grow & heal is built into our human-nature, a nature that comes alive when we receive the support we need. Therapy is for receiving this support, and in a way that fits with you.
Throughout my life, along with my broad training and experience as a therapist, I've experienced my own, and have guided others in finding their ability to overcome what's happening 'right now', no matter what happened 'back then’, and no matter what concerns there are about the future.

Couple & Family Therapist. The right fit and connection with your therapist is key. Perhaps...Your relationships may not not be what they once were or what you had hoped they would be...Your sense of future is burdened by past trauma or shame...You are struggling with crushing grief and loss...You are tired of making the same mistakes and hurting yourself and the people you love...Your relationship is in a crisis or trying to recover from an affair...You are trying to find your way as a parent...You feel like an imposter as a professional...Or, you simply need an objective "witness" to your life and struggles.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
