You’re overwhelmed. Despite all you do, you feel unsupported and unfulfilled. You’re overburdened and under-appreciated by your
partner
. You know you were put on this planet for more than endless laundry folding. Where did you go wrong? You were filled with such hope and abilities a few years ago. Even an invitation to go out with your girlfriends feels like a chore. It’s hard to be present with your family while it feels like your life is slipping away. Your self-help books lie in a heap on your nightstand. Your friends seem to have it all together – Why are you so stuck?

Are you someone who experiences relational conflict and communication issues? I would be able to assist individuals/
couples
whose self-esteem, comfortability with emotional intimacy, psychological concerns, etc. are interfering with their relational functioning. Together we can learn how to express emotions/feelings more effectively, or even in the terms of what you hope to receive from your
partner
. These goals might include minimizing disagreements, and gaining the ability to work as a team with your
partner
.

Many of my clients find me when life presents an unexpected and unwelcome crisis in their individual or family life. I always offer a complimentary video interview so new clients can get a "feel" for who I am and how I work. My approach is very interactive, and I seek to create a safe space where I can help you take a closer look at your life today. Then, together, we make plans for real change. In many cases, the intensive 90 minute initial session is a turning point. My focus is on instilling hope, and being your
partner
in the changes you seek. That’s what motivates me every day.

I treat a wide range of clients of all genders and sexual expressions for sexuality and
relationship
concerns. The foundation of my practice was built working with survivors of sexual assault and abuse, helping them transition into holistic sexual health for themselves, as well as sustaining intimate relationships with others. Today my practice still includes working with survivors, though I also see individuals and
couples
with issues such as compulsivity with pornography/sex, infidelity, fertility concerns, pain disorders, low desire, nontraditional sexual expression exploration and consensual non-monogamy.

We'll design a "road map" for your family journey that enhances your child's self esteem and preserves your
relationship
.
If things are hard for you or your family, you are not alone. Are you trying everything but things still aren't working? Is your child struggling, discouraged or behaving in a way you didn't expect? It's easy to feel like you're doing something wrong. Not necessarily. Many children (and adults) need strategies that match their learning style, or that need adjusting as life changes. With challenges like ADHD, oppositional behavior or Autism, navigating the world can be even harder, especially in our current situation. I believe we all have strengths to celebrate and room for growth. You deserve the best life has to offer.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
