I have years of experience in community mental health and as a Child and Adolescent and Family Therapist. I have worked with children, teens, adults, and families helping to improve communication and decrease conflict. I’m a multicultural and multilingual therapist who keeps it real. I’m trained in yoga and mindfulness and have experience working in high schools as well as clinics throughout NYC and NJ, bringing mindfulness on-the-go and helping people recognize the skills or techniques they need to move forward. As a first-generation American who grew up in a multicultural family, I integrate this perspective in helping others realize their unique goals and dreams. Together, we can explore and uncover topics such as personal development, emotions, facing your fears, oppression, anxiety, navigating relationships, and family issues.

I am a Licensed Associate Counselor with experience in the school setting. Children and teens may face challenges that affect how they feel, behave, and learn. I also conduct best interest evaluations when special situations might occur that require specialized evaluations such as child custody evaluations, domestic violence, anger management, parenting coordinating, parental capacity cases, reunification therapy and social and educational evaluations.

As a therapist, I work hard to create a non-judgmental, safe environment where my clients can develop insight into their lives and behaviors. Counseling is a way to help you understand yourself better and to break down those barriers that stop you from moving forward.

My philosophy is to approach each person as an individual with his or her own ability/willingness/readiness to work through the issues at hand. I believe our thought process can be our own worst enemy at times and I work to assist the client to be more aware of the pitfalls of these negatively charged thoughts. I have more than 20 years of experience treating clients from diverse backgrounds, with a wide range of presenting issues. My practice is safe and welcoming, offering talk therapy for adults. As a Registered Play Therapist, I offer developmentally appropriate approaches (play and creative therapies) for children ages 3 and up.

I have over 10 years of experience helping clients identify goals and find paths to achieving them. I use various treatment techniques to help clients accentuate coping skills in order to manage stressful situations and to stabilize their mood. Helping clients to see their strengths and build new ones which allows clients to move forward. Using a mix of Solution Focused, CBT, ACT, Supportive and Insight Oriented treatment, I can help a variety of clients. I work with adults of all ages.

Like many of you, I find the roles I fill within my own family (wife, mother, daughter, in-law, and sister) to be challenging. The family I grew up in didn’t solve problems. We shouted about them, ignored them, ignored each other, and then repeated these patterns over and over again under different circumstances. I was actually relieved when my parents eventually divorced, because I was hopeful that our home life would be happier. Changing the living situations didn’t change our interaction patterns. Seemingly simple disagreements escalated quickly, we ended up saying hurtful things which we later regretted.
