You are no longer a child and you (and your parents) tried everything but you still have a hard time reading, math formulas cause panic attacks, and no amount of planning keeps you on schedule. Don’t give up, because our new strength-based approach to dyslexia, dyscalculia, and executive dysfunction often works where other methodologies fail. These disabilities typically come in one package with enhanced (but often underused) capacities to guess, to predict, to use analogies, and to improvise. Given detailed directions, you will get lost, but knowing your destination, you will find it yourself.

It is often quite difficult to make that first phone call requesting therapy. Usually that call is precipitated by the realization that possibly, " I don't have to face my difficulties alone" and "just maybe, I can feel better sooner with some help". I always make an effort to help clients feel at ease and to clarify their needs. I work towards enabling clients to experience their strengths as they address their difficulties.

My life’s work is to guide new moms, those trying to conceive, expectant moms and souls who have lost a pregnancy or an infant, towards strength, empowerment, wellness and transformation. The unfortunate norm is that well-meaning people focus on the baby and less on the new mom and how she’s doing, provide unsolicited advice during a raw and emotionally sensitive time, cross boundaries around time and energy of a new parent, feel entitled to comment on a woman’s body postpartum, invalidate pregnancy loss, disqualify the grief of choosing to terminate a pregnancy through abortion and negate a traumatic experience during childbirth.

My approach is sourced from attachment, existential and humanistic theories, applied through Psychodynamic, Emotionally Focused and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Do you ever feel alone in a room full of people or lonely in what should be a loving relationship? Are you anxious or sad and don't know why (or maybe do)? If you struggle to connect, to trust, to reach out, to pursue what you desire or to stop doing what doesn't work, our work together will begin with creating a safe, open, inquisitive, and engaging relationship with me. I believe the connection and strong alliance with the therapist is essential for developing a secure base from which you can gain the confidence to understand yourself in new ways and to explore and pursue more meaningful changes professionally and relationally.

In understanding that individuals in pain or having a particular challenge in life may make only one attempt at reaching out for help, I strive to welcome and set at ease every one who contacts me. Most therapy patients are ordinary people that have hit a bump in the road of life and cannot get past it on their own. My commitment, through goal directed therapy, is to help those people return to their optimal level of coping with the sometimes mild, sometimes severe challenges that life brings their way and guide them back to a sense of well being.

You’ve felt this way for too long. You thought that in time you would feel better, but you don’t. You are exhausted from hearing that inner voice that tells you, you’re not good enough, you’ll always feel this way, or you have to be perfect. You feel anxious, guilty, and embarrassed for thinking these thoughts and for behaving in ways that you feel you just can’t control. You feel frustrated, depressed, and overwhelmed. You feel like you are on a hamster wheel and going nowhere fast. You aren’t sure how you got to this place, but you know you want out. There is hope. You don’t have to feel this way and you don’t have to do it alone.

I work with people who feel burdened by self doubt, who tend to think a lot, who feel a sense of burden and high responsibility leading to a build up of resentment and guilt. My clientele expresses higher sensitivity (HSP) and a history of being judged negatively for it, are very aware of other people's emotional needs and feel overwhelmed by this. Typically people express things like: "I second guess everything I say and wonder how the other person is perceiving me" and "I want to feel more calm and have more faith in myself and in my relationships".

Hello and welcome to my practice. Asking for help is not easy, so I am so glad you are here! Therapists are not a one size fits all and finding the right fit for you, your family, and/or your child is so important for therapy to be successful. My approach with clients is always collaborative, genuine and warm, and I use both empathy and humor. I am client-centered, strengths based, and solutions focused. I utilize multiple therapeutic modalities to correspond with the needs of each individual client, meeting them where they are at.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach to therapy that helps clients identify their emotions, learn to explore and experience them, to understand them and then to manage them. Emotionally Focused Therapy embraces the idea that emotions can be changed, first by arriving at or 'living' the maladaptive emotion (e.g. loss, fear or shame) in session, and then learning to transform it. Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples seeks to break the negative emotion cycles within relationships, emphasizing the importance of the attachment bond between couples, and how nurturing of the attachment bonds and an empathetic understanding of each others emotions can break the cycles.
