Techniques you may experiment with in our work could include mindfulness , witnessing, walking sessions, personal narrative, psychoeducation, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and somatic therapy.
I want you to have the best life imaginable: to live in a body that can feel what it feels and with a mind that can know what it knows. I believe we heal through connection and relationship; it is how we survive then thrive. Sometimes we need to make meaning of our experiences; sometimes we just want to manage or reduce unwanted symptoms and sometimes we need someone to simply be present- to sit and witness and listen or hold the silence. I hope you will find all these elements working with me and together we will walk the path to healing. Come in and let's explore together!

I combine CBT, Mindfulness , and Solution-Focus Therapy along with other models.
Is work or school stressing you out? Are you tired of feeling on edge and not being happy? Are you having a hard time with friends/bullies or the changes in your life? If this is you, It is time for you to take care of yourself and address what is holding you back from a fulfilling and happier life. We often wear many hats and don't regularly take the time to address our needs. This often leads to being stressed, depressed, and anxious. I believe that everyone, no matter their life circumstances, can heal and grow. I am confident that you can not just survive in life, but thrive!

I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” when it comes to therapy. That’s why I meet clients where they are utilizing a combination of skills including evidence-based psychotherapy, mindfulness , solution-focused, and goal-oriented approaches. Trust is key in the therapeutic process and having a safe space to be vulnerable and express yourself genuinely is necessary to take the steps in addressing some of life’s most difficult challenges. My experience lies in working with individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions and readjustment, managing emotions, grief and loss, and substance abuse.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
