Therapy can be a wonderful process to examine self, reflect, and grow toward the direction of hope and healing. I offer a safe, supportive and private environment where you may explore and work through life challenges. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss,`the aftermath of trauma, or panic attacks therapy can be an viable source of comfort and healing. At times life gives us more than we can handle and the challenges seem to go beyond our ability to cope. It is at these times when therapy can be most beneficial.

I have worked in the field of addictions for over 20 years. People suffering from addictions and their families may have other underlying mental health issues such as trauma, depression and anxiety. Throughout my career, I have worked tirelessly with adults, adolescents, and as well as their families to address these issues and find a path to healing. My philosophy is simple: to treat the person in the surrounding environment, to see a person in the context of
family
, school, job, and community (and to evaluate the impact of these relationships), and to focus on the person's strengths as well as embrace their difficulties.

Is your child’s worry causing you to worry? Could your teen's “acting out” or behavioral issues be caused by anxiety, depression, or some underlying issue that you may not be aware of? Many children and teens struggle to manage symptoms on a daily basis. This often results in poor school performance, issues with peer relationships,
family
discord, and other behavioral concerns. If you’re at a loss or feeling frustrated, therapy can be a helpful way to gain an understanding of why a child may be struggling. You and your child can then learn various ways to cope with stressors. Call me for a free initial phone consultation.

Sitting in a rocking chair, rocking back and forth, may feel relaxing but I believe that life without therapy is like sitting in that rocking chair, rocking back-and-forth but never actually making any progress or going anywhere. I feel that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point during a lifetime, especially now during this unprecedented time. This pandemic has changed the way we live and has brought new levels of fear, isolation and hardships to many. Navigating through these days are difficult, why do it alone when you can get through it with a therapist who will support you along the way?

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
