I have been helping young people solve problems and achieve their goals for over 12 professional years. In all that time, I have served two main roles; a school counselor for a special education organization, and a high school coach of soccer, cross country and track teams in central New Jersey. I have extensive experience in helping
children
, adolescents and teens earn success by realizing and developing strengths to overcome life's obstacles. I believe that navigating the years between childhood and adulthood is one of the most daunting periods in someone's life, and challenges can come at you from all different directions.

One of the most difficult aspects of being a parent is seeing your
child
in pain and feeling like there is nothing that you can do to help. Have you become increasingly concerned about your
child
's behavior at home or school? Do you worry that your
child
is struggling with day to day functioning? Are their behaviors difficult to understand and manage? Does the smallest thing seem to trigger your
child
? Is your teen withdrawing and not engaging in activities that once brought them joy? Is your teen engaging in harmful behaviors?

children
, teens and adults (ages 4+).
I believe in meeting clients where they are at! Every person is resilient. I intend our collaboration to remind you of your strengths, provide you tools to weather the storms of life, and a safe space to gain insight into your truest self. I come to social work from a social justice background and recognize that trauma and oppression are often intertwined. Acknowledging systemic issues is a vital part of my practice, particularly for youth and families directly impacted by it. Teaching you to advocate successfully on your own behalf, whether it be in your relationships or larger systems, is also essential.

The goal of therapy is for each person to reach their highest potential in all areas of their lives. I treat

Like our fingerprints, there are no two people who will have the exact experiences, pain, struggles or stories. Everyone's pain will show up differently and everyone's story will have a tale that needs to be told. What is the same for most people is the need and want to find release from their pain, healing from their stories and a future to look forward to. When we work together, this is always our goal although our path to get there may look different from your friend, co-worker or family member. This is treatment designed for you and your unique story and needs.

Are you frustrated that no one has been successful in helping your
child
? My strength-based approach combines comprehensive assessment with evidenced-based interventions.
Life is filled with many opportunities as well as challenges. My goal is to help
children
and adolescents recognize and seize those opportunities and overcome any challenges and obstacles that get in their way. By helping them create a positive mindset, build effective coping strategies, and expand their repertoire of problem-solving skills, they can live a healthy, satisfying, and successful social and academic life. The earlier these skills are cultivated within the
child
or adolescent, the greater the opportunities to practice and utilize them to their benefit. Please visit my website: www.childresilience.com

Worried moms & frazzled dads, look no further! Maybe your
child
/teen is anxious, sad, angry, or acting out. You've tried empathy, rewards, punishments, extra attention, special privileges. You've read books, consulted parenting blogs, & asked other parents for advice. Whatever you try, it may even work for a few days but then all the old problems come right back. Maybe your boy wants to dress like a girl and it's freaking you out. Maybe your teen declares "I'm queer"--what does that even mean? Let's add the stress of the global pandemic, and you're exhausted, frustrated, and worried about your
child
's future.

Counselor, MS
Life is filled with times of transition and times of change. This couldn't be more true than for the life of a
child
or an adolescent. School stressors, personal identity, family separations, forming healthy friendships, and an overwhelming desire for acceptance are all things that a
child
or adolescent may deal with regularly. In these moments it is crucial for a young person to feel understood and listened to in order to be helped. Coming alongside a young person in whatever place they may be residing in is where my heart resides. Many times this age group can be overlooked or misunderstood, but their needs still remain.

Finding a therapist for you or your
child
can be a difficult task. Purposeful Pathways hopes to help with that. Personally, much of my experience is centered around working with adolescents in multiple levels of care settings (e.g., outpatient to partial hospitalization) with things like mood disorders, self-esteem issues, interpersonal effectiveness needs, and parent-
child
relational issues to name a few of areas I have helped clients navigate. With my young adult-adult clients, much of what I have seen is a need for support through transitions, assessing and increasing life satisfaction, and overall short/long term goal setting.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
