With over twenty years of experience, I have worked with a broad range of patients and problems, including depression , anxiety, social phobia, grief, relationship and marital problems.
Psychotherapy can be a life changing process. In order to choose a therapist, you should consider their training and experience, but ultimately your therapist must be someone with whom you feel comfortable, safe and trusting. Psychotherapy is a collaboration, where the two of us are working together toward a full understanding of your problems in living. With that greater understanding, you will have more freedom of choice to be how you want to be, and who you want to be. We will need to understand your personal strengths as well as the difficulties and problems you have encountered.

Past clients have said: "I was able to make more progress in a few months than I ever could have imagined, based on my prior experience with more traditional ‘talk’ therapies.” “Maggie helped give me my life back after so many years of feeling lost.” — Trauma can affect you in all sorts of ways, from anxiety to depression , relationship problems to attention deficit-like symptoms. The good news is, treatment has taken huge leaps forward in the last few decades, and relief is closer than you think. Whether you have flashbacks, feel on high alert all the time, or have trouble sleeping or focusing at work, help is available.

I believe therapy works because of the relationship between the therapist and the patient. When there is an environment of mutual trust, you, as the patient, can feel free to talk about things that you may not have not been able to talk about before. When that begins to happen, there is an immediate sense of relief. As therapy continues and you start to feel less anxious and depressed , you can begin to make positive changes in your life.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
