At Princeton Family Institute we provide psychotherapy to families, couples and individuals from a culturally sensitive collaborative family systems perspective. I work with a range of problems:depression, anxiety, school refusal, child behavior problems, arrested emotional independence, substance abuse recovery, anorexia, and family and couples' conflict. In child-focused issues, I believe children should not alone bear the burden of change. I enlist family members as a resource in problem-solving. Parents and I work as a team to help their children. I welcome individuals, couples, and families whose problems have not been successfully addressed through other therapeutic approaches.

I work with adults and young adults navigating stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, spirituality, and life transitions.
After completing a full-time Alimah program (Islamic studies degree), I spent many years teaching religious texts and leading programs on emotional wellness and spiritual growth. I use the tools of CBT (Mind) with the deep self-discovery of Psychodynamic therapy (Body/History) and the grounding power of Spirituality (Soul).
I believe that true healing begins with an open-minded connection. I focus on building a warm rapport that allows you to feel truly seen and heard from the very start. I bring a calm, grounding presence to our work, ensuring that our first meeting feels less like an interview & more like a gentle, purposeful conversation. You can expect a safe haven with me

I use a combination of psychodynamic therapy, somatic experiencing, energy psychology, the enneagram, NLP, and spirituality to help you realign with your highest self, regain your confidence, love yourself, and heal the old wounds that dim your sparkle.
You can't pour from an empty cup. I'm talking to you nurses and therapists, and women everywhere. You help everyone. but who do you turn to for support? I can help you eliminate depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, unwanted weight, bad relationships, etc, by releasing the emotional baggage that no longer serves you, uncovering your unique purpose, & aligning with your deepest desires. I guide people like you to align their emotional, physical and spiritual lives, eliminate mental interference like limiting beliefs and social programming, transcend obstacles & achieve their goals. Think of me as your transformation sherpa.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
