My desire is to serve client’s who struggle with substance abuse. This is my speciality and there are many issues that surround substance abuse e.g. issues of self esteem, self worth, family of origin issues, traumas physical mental and sexual. There are also issues of neglect, abandonment and disconnection/dissociation from the self and from the inner child. In addition to my expertise in these areas I also counsel client’s for domestic violence, anger management, anxiety, depression and grief and loss. I am certified in EMDR and use this treatment method along with Internal Family Systems.
Are you unhappy, struggling to enjoy anything in your life? Are you waking up feeling exhausted, wondering where to get the energy to make it through your day? Are you worrying about everything, feeling so stressed and overwhelmed that it is hard to stay focused? Do you know what you must do but can’t find the energy or motivation to complete anything? Do you feel that you aren’t good at anything? Does your anxiety and worry affect everything you do? You don’t have to continue feeling this way; you deserve to be happy and feel good about yourself.

The unavoidable consequences to your relationships and family, your work, and your health are constant lurking threats.
Your chronic dissatisfaction has been going on so long, it's hard to imagine things ever getting better. It seems like other people have it much easier, like they know something you don't. Your emotional pain actually isn't your fault, but you do have a problem. You need the right tools to sustain passion and joy in life. You haven't learned them... yet.

Or you may be trying to resolve conflicts in a relationship with a partner, family member, co-worker or boss.
I became a Certified Sex Therapist because I wanted to have the knowledge base and comfort level to address sexuality (an all too often neglected subject in therapy) with my clients. Desire discrepancy, sexual dysfunction, infidelity, alternate lifestyles and out of control sexual behavior are some of the areas I specialize in treating.

Our daily functioning with family, coworkers, and friends can be affected.
In my years of providing therapy to individuals, couples, and groups, adults and elders, I have used various modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic psychotherapy to help clients discover what might be holding them back and help them achieve goals and peace of mind.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
