Our lives are forever changing in so many ways. With change comes so many different emotions such as happiness, sadness, grief and anxiety to just name a few. Whether the change is positive or negative we have to face it head on. Throughout our lives we need to learn how to embrace change and ride the waves of life.

I work with children, adolescents, young adults and families who want to make their lives happier. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help children and adolescents who are feeling sad, irritable, frustrated, angry, or anxious. Through therapy, I work with families to help children cope with school, social, family, or health problems. In addition to CBT, I incorporate other treatment techniques to best help you and your child (e.g., play therapy, interpersonal therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, family systems, and psychodynamic techniques).

How long have you wanted help? There's nothing better than waking up happy every day, in a life full of precious moments & meaningful relationships. We both know that it’s not always like that, not everybody has that kind of life. Maybe you don’t have that kind of life now, but you want to. You’ve probably noticed that you have some patterns that you keep repeating, no matter how hard you try not to, you may have relationship trouble, trauma, disordered eating. Together we’ll look at the negative patterns & beliefs keeping you stuck. Life can be messy, it can be really hard but you do not have to do it alone. I can help.

There are many reasons why we seek out therapy. Perhaps we're feeling emotionally distressed, or maybe we're having difficulty functioning like we used to in certain aspects of our lives. Whatever the reason, we each have the capacity to heal and grow to our fullest potential. With the right therapist, psychotherapy can be a life-altering experience. I firmly believe that the most positive therapeutic outcomes are born of strong therapeutic relationships. Nonetheless, once trust and rapport are established, it is equally important for the therapist to have strong clinical knowledge and a specific plan to help each individual client.

EMDR Certified. My general practice includes a strong background and interest in Trauma work, and I include EMDR into my Psychodynamic approach. I believe in a holistic approach with an appreciation that the mind, body, brain and spirit are intimately intertwined and impacted by one another. Therefore, I focus as much on client’s strengths as I do on their challenges. My approach is primarily psychodynamic, helping clients bring unconscious thoughts and behaviors to the conscious, helping clients shift to more effective and fulfilling patterns of functioning.

Healing happens when you feel safe enough to be seen, heard, and understood. Taking the first step toward therapy can feel deeply scary—but it’s also incredibly brave. You might be wondering, Will I be seen? Heard? Understood? Together, we’ll explore what’s been keeping you stuck and gently uncover what you need to move toward greater peace and self-acceptance. Through compassion, understanding, and reflection, we’ll help you reconnect with your authentic self.

As a therapist, I believe that each client deserves to have a setting in which they feel safe and comfortable. I believe that therapy is not one size fits all. I treat each client as an individual, working together to create a treatment plan that will allow each client to get the most out of their therapy sessions. I work with a diverse client base ranging from adolescence, adults, families, and couples. I feel that we are all able to overcome obstacles that come our way as long as we are given proper tools and framework to do so. It is important for me to connect with each client so that we are setting realistic goals.

Many of the people I work with feel stuck — caught between stress, anxiety, low motivation, and trying to keep it together at school, at home, or in relationships. It’s exhausting. My goal is to help you slow down, get clear on what’s really happening, and start feeling like yourself again. I work with teens, young adults, and families to manage anxiety, depression, school stress, and life transitions. My approach is calm, supportive, and down-to-earth — no pressure, no judgment, just real conversations that help you build confidence and direction. Together, we’ll focus on building coping tools, understanding what’s underneath you

Oppositional Defiance (ODD) Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for oppositional defiant disorder?
The treatment of Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) will involve multiple approaches designed to help both the youngster and their parents, sometimes including medication. A therapist will help a child learn ways to regulate their emotions, curb their impulsiveness, and counteract anger, defiance, and disruption, while showing parents ways to bring these lessons into their home. A technique designed for children with conditions like ODD, known as Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), may also be used. CPS addresses a child’s concerns and rewards appropriate responses while discouraging harsh punishment or criticism.

How does treatment for oppositional defiant disorder work?
Treatment for ODD addresses the issues underlying a child’s defiance and disruption, the emotional regulation and impulse-control skills they lack, and the way adults respond to them. ODD therapy is based on the idea that children with the disorder understand the difference between right and wrong, that they want to behave well, and that, with help, they can. By responding to the child with empathy instead of harsh criticism, ignoring nonviolent behaviors, and rewarding positive actions, a therapist, and the other adults in a child’s life, can help children improve their behavior.

How long does therapy for oppositional defiant disorder take?
Therapy for oppositional defiant disorder is not a short-term undertaking. Depending on the severity of a child’s symptoms, their age, the presence of other conditions like ADHD, anxiety or a mood disorder, and their family dynamic, it can take months before improvement is noted. The cooperation of parents and teachers is crucial, because the skills learned in therapy must be practiced in real-world situations, with all their potential triggers.

Does oppositional defiant disorder go away?
ODD can remit following treatment. ODD is often diagnosed in nursery school, and early intervention is essential for a positive prognosis. In two-thirds of children, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, symptoms resolve within three years.
