I am licensed in the states of NJ, NY, and FL and am currently accepting new clients. I am open to all populations although I primarily work with individuals who identify in the LGBTQIA+ community. I have experience helping clients with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, polyamorous relationships, sexual issues, and trauma. My approach is flexible and down to earth using research proven techniques. I am also a Gender Specialist who provides assistance to transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming adults, adolescents, and their families as well as writing the letters necessary to obtain gender affirming medical care.

I assist clients in navigating life's changes and challenges in a positive, healthy manner. I utilize cognitive behavioral, trauma informed care, and mindfulness techniques to work with clients to manage symptoms related to depression, anxiety, school related issues, peer interactions/social anxiety, family issues and other areas of concern.

Dr. Burgess is a counseling psychologist and the owner of BB Counseling. Dr. Burgess received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts. Upon graduation, he went on to receive his Master's Degree and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Seton Hall University. Dr. Burgess treats a variety of disorders including but not limited to anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, ocd, oppositional defiant disorder, ADHD, anger, chronic pain, marriage counseling, and parental counseling. Treatment also includes psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulators, and long term pain medication.

Kristin Newland earned her Masters Degree in Social Work at Rutgers University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years experience working with clients ages 10-18, young adults and adults dealing with difficult life transitions, anxiety and depression. Kristin is also a managing partner at Navesink Counseling Associates, overseeing and supervising a team of skilled clinicians.

Lighthouse Counseling & Sand Play Training Center, LLC was conceived in 2000 in a tiny office in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey by Gretchen Morgan and Mary Pat McGeehin. Their search for effective treatment led them to include the use of Sand Play Therapy, EMDR, yoga and therapeutic group work with their clients.
