Stress and difficult times are part of the human experience. We could all use someone to talk to at different junctures in life. Perhaps you feel stuck or confused. Maybe life has thrown you a curveball. In these times, there is great potential for growth and change. Navigating our way out of these situations, which often feels like being in a maze, can be difficult to do alone. If you’d like to make a change, I would like to help. I have experience helping children, adolescents, and adults manage anxiety and depression in a variety of settings including outpatient, in-home, and as a school social worker.

My specialty areas include life transitions; anxiety , depression and mood disorders; personal/spiritual/sexual identity; and emerging adulthood.
Human beings are capable of facing great challenges in our lives because we are built for survival. However, Self-Actualization requires not only seeing ourselves in the clear light of day, but also facing our shadows in the dark nights of our lives. I believe that three qualities: Vision, Resilience, and Vitality; in equal measure, are essential to a life that is authentic to our true values and desires. We need Vision to perceive the truth in our lives, Vitality to integrate the many disparate parts of who we are, and Resilience to endure the hardship of our lives. It IS within our ability to find satisfaction and authenticity.

I have extensive experience working across different communities and continents with people having anxiety , depression, addiction, PTSD, trauma of all kinds.
Let’s Just Not Aim to Heal. Let’s Aim to Emerge Stronger! You have taken the first step to seek help and challenge your “Inner Enemy.” By making the decision to look your enemy in the eye, you have shown that you possess the strength and resolve to emerge stronger. My role as your therapist is to help you get there. Not by using big words or complicated processes! There is “no easy button.” In fact just the opposite - It happens with sharing the hurt, with empathy, respect, collaboration, and with walking the long path together. This is where experience teams up with empathy.

My approach is client centered, strengths based and trauma informed. I specialize in trauma treatment. The impact of trauma and mental illness on men is rarely a social conversation. Needless to say men are likely to go for decades without seeking help and suffer in silence. This is where I bring years of experience working with men struggling with trauma. I also have worked with women's issues, trauma, depression, anxiety , and specialized in addictions for over a decade. Perhaps you are experiencing depression amidst caring for a loved one who is struggling with a addiction, mental illness or co-occurring issues.

Accepting New Clients. Welcome. I have always been drawn to assisting others with recognizing their true potential, and empowering them to use their innate strengths to achieve it. I consider it an honor and privilege as a therapist, to work with people who have the desire to be genuinely happy with their lives and to assist them with achieving their true happiness. I’ve always been curious of people’s individual stories, which is why I believe that therapy cannot be “one-size-fits-all.” Everyone has a unique story that is special to them, and therefore my approach in therapy is tailored to best suit my clients’ specific needs.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
