Neuropsychological evaluation and consultation for learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, concussion, traumatic brain injury, dementia, anxiety, and depression.
I strive to provide clinical services that are practical and informed by research. I do not employ a receptionist or any other support professionals. Therefore, when you call, I will always be the one that answers the phone. I am thorough and collaborative. Typically, I obtain information from multiple sources as appropriate including parents, partners, spouses, teachers and other healthcare professionals (e.g. physicians) with your consent. This allows me to develop a more comprehensive understanding of what is causing you or your family member's difficulties and how I can better help you.

I am certified in EAGALA and work with an equine specialist to facilitate growth and learning using horses as therapeutic partners.
We all face times in our lives that present seemingly insurmountable difficulties. It is part of our human experience. I also know that when we receive compassionate and skilled support, these times can lead to incredible growth and transformation. I consider it a privilege to be a supportive presence to my clients during the times when they have to find strength they didn't know they had. We all have the internal resilience to overcome every challenge life puts in our paths. I have a particular interest in helping clients move through traumatic grief and loss related to relationship loss, miscarriage, and infertility.

Self acceptance and understanding are key to learning to love ourselves unconditionally, which I believe is one of the most powerful ways to untether and untangle from systems that benefit from our disconnection and disempowerment.
Offering down-to-earth, trauma-informed, affirming therapy services for children through adults in person in Princeton and via telehealth, I help clients feel seen and appreciated for their authentic selves. As we work together to understand current issues, uncover their root causes, and explore possible solutions, client dignity and autonomy are centered. With connection, sensitivity, and curiosity, I utilize a combination of approaches including Internal Family Systems, somatic psychotherapy, mindfulness and self compassion, art, play, and more, to help clients gain insight and make positive changes.

Living life fully and successfully is a great challenge, while coping with emotional, behavioral, or cognitive struggles. We are taught to read, write and do math in school, but where do we learn the skills to live effectively and happily? I approach psychotherapy as an educational, supportive process that occurs in a safe environment where individuals can learn the skills to meet life's challenges and gain control of their lives. Our Centers offer not only psychotherapy services, but comprehensive neuropsychological testing and treatment for learning disorders , ADHD, memory problems, concussion, and brain disorders.

I offer therapy and assessment to people of all ages, 6 and up, who might be struggling with inattention, mood or anxiety, executive functioning, learning differences, family problems, or social difficulties. Therapy can help to develop self-knowledge and acceptance, confidence, and empowerment to make meaningful change. The goal of assessment is to identify a person’s unique neurodivergent strengths, challenges and needs. When I work with families, we look for solutions that respect the autonomy of all family members and addresses the emotional needs of kids - and their parents - who may be struggling with meeting expectations.

I identify giftedness, learning difficulties, cognitive strengths/weaknesses, social-emotional and behavioral problems, and personality characteristics.
Life is filled with many opportunities as well as challenges. My goal is to help children and adolescents recognize and seize those opportunities and overcome any challenges and obstacles that get in their way. By helping them create a positive mindset, build effective coping strategies, and expand their repertoire of problem-solving skills, they can live a healthy, satisfying, and successful social and academic life. The earlier these skills are cultivated within the child or adolescent, the greater the opportunities to practice and utilize them to their benefit. Please visit my website: www.childresilience.com

These tests can be used to assess for learning disabilities, ADHD, executive functioning and emotional difficulties.
It's that "A-ha" moment. It's that look of recognition and relief. Those are the feelings I love to see when I've finally crossed the "psychological" bridge and have developed a connection with someone. Over the past 10 years, I have worked with children/adolescents struggling with numerous issues, such as ADHD, depression and family conflict. I provide a supportive and nurturing environment and in conjunction with positive reinforcement from parents, you start to see a change.

I have over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents and their families, as well as individual adults, in independent practice, school and hospital settings. While I work with patients presenting with a wide range of issues and concerns I specialize in working with neurologically or developmentally 'atypical' children and adolescents - ADHD, learning disabilities, autism spectrum, etc. I often work with those neurodevelopmentally atypical children, adolescent and young adults who don't easily fit into these kinds of standard diagnostic categories. I look for and develop strengths, resiliencies and resources.

Is your child underperforming academically? Have you become your child's enemy fighting over school work? Are you overwhelmed with daily tasks? Do you promise yourself to get things done but never seem to accomplish them? Labels such as lazy, unmotivated, procrastinator, disorganized, not working up to potential are often used but do not address the underlying issues. Research has shown that a trained ADHD coach can help. For the past 21 years, I have built a reputation in the Princeton/Mercer County area for helping students and adults to overcome the daily obstacles that come with ADHD.

Education and Learning Disabilities Therapists

How effective is treatment for learning disabilities?

When initiated early and tailored to a child’s specific needs, learning disability treatment can be quite effective at helping a child cope with their disability, though its exact efficacy may depend on the severity of symptoms and whether comorbid disorders exist. Less is known about treatment initiated in adulthood, but it is certainly possible that an adult with a learning disability will see some improvement—or at the very least, identify workarounds and accommodations that could make symptoms less burdensome in day-to-day life.

When should someone seek treatment for learning disabilities?

It’s best to seek treatment as early as possible. Because learning disabilities often go unnoticed until a child starts school, or even until they’re a few years along, regular check-ins with teachers and doctors can help parents determine whether children are meeting milestones and keeping up with peers or whether an evaluation for learning disabilities may be warranted. And although earlier is always better, it’s never too late to be evaluated for learning disabilities and to seek treatment.

What happens if learning disabilities are left untreated?

Undiagnosed and untreated learning disabilities can be a source of significant frustration and shame for a child, who may feel that their challenges stem from a lack of intelligence or willpower. Such feelings can trigger low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety, which may push a child toward risky behaviors, including substance use. In adulthood, untreated learning disabilities can interfere with career success, and lingering feelings of self-doubt and shame can negatively affect someone’s mental health.

Are there medications for learning disabilities?

Currently, there are no medications designed to treat specific learning disabilities such as dysgraphia or dyscalculia. However, someone with a learning disability may be prescribed medication for a comorbid condition, such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD, which may have positive downstream effects on their learning disability; for example, a child with both ADHD and dyslexia may find that they’re better able to focus on their reading exercises after being prescribed a stimulant medication.
