My individual/ family therapeutic sessions are focused on developing the skills needed to lead a happier and productive personal and professional life.
There are times when we are uncertain how to respond to issues, we may become overwhelmed by having to make decisions or we may feel depleted because we tried everything possible but the problem(s) persist and seem to grow. We may also feel isolated as our personal and professional relationships become conflicted. We might be responding to problems never before experienced, or we may lack the knowledge experience and skills to be objective to find a solution. Sometimes we may not have had role models or personal, academic or professional mentors to help guide us through various situations.

from GSAPP, Rutgers University, and I am certified in Family Therapy , EMDR, and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction).
Therapy can be a remarkable journey into greater self-awareness and towards more intentional living. Whether you are seeking major transformation or simply a means of getting unstuck and getting on with the life you want to live, I believe the most important quality of the therapeutic relationship is that you feel understood. That you attain greater understanding of the origins and nature of your concerns, and that you learn how best to address them. If you would like to learn more about how we might work together on your concerns, I welcome the opportunity to talk.

In my many years of working in a clinical and school setting, I have come to realize that the causal factors of exasperating personal conflicts can create a family pathology that is inherited through generations of unresolved issues.
As we continuously evolve in this journey called "Life", we all encounter many challenges that can hinder our ability to maintain a healthy mindset. Many of us tend to want the instant gratification of happiness and success but struggle with how to obtain it. Every client has unique situations, where one's sense of self-efficacy can play a major role in how they approach goals, tasks and challenges. These determinants play a major role in how thoughts are created, feelings are instilled and behaviors are executed. Therefore, through a wide range of individualized services customized and effective treatment plans are provided.

Let us then suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper void of all characters, without any ideas. How comes it to be furnished? Whence comes it by that vast store which the busy and boundless fancy of man has painted on it with an almost endless variety? Whence has it all the materials of reason and knowledge? To this I answer, in one word, from EXPERIENCE.” – John Locke.

One of my greatest passions is sitting with others as they become enlightened, unburdened & encouraged through the power of talk therapy. I consider it a privilege when one shares their life challenges with me in pursuit of support and guidance. External conditions may not change but through counseling, one's perspective and response can change, leading to emotional & mental health. Your struggles & pressures in life do not have to dictate or determine who you are or how you feel but can be used to experience growth and help you realize your personal strength & potential and ability to change. Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
