For more than 20 years I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults on issues including anxiety, depression , relationship conflicts, eating disorders, trauma, ADHD, OCD, and other serious mental illnesses.
Therapy can be a remarkable journey into greater self-awareness and towards more intentional living. Whether you are seeking major transformation or simply a means of getting unstuck and getting on with the life you want to live, I believe the most important quality of the therapeutic relationship is that you feel understood. That you attain greater understanding of the origins and nature of your concerns, and that you learn how best to address them. If you would like to learn more about how we might work together on your concerns, I welcome the opportunity to talk.

Let us then suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper void of all characters, without any ideas. How comes it to be furnished? Whence comes it by that vast store which the busy and boundless fancy of man has painted on it with an almost endless variety? Whence has it all the materials of reason and knowledge? To this I answer, in one word, from EXPERIENCE.” – John Locke.

There are times when we are uncertain how to respond to issues, we may become overwhelmed by having to make decisions or we may feel depleted because we tried everything possible but the problem(s) persist and seem to grow. We may also feel isolated as our personal and professional relationships become conflicted. We might be responding to problems never before experienced, or we may lack the knowledge experience and skills to be objective to find a solution. Sometimes we may not have had role models or personal, academic or professional mentors to help guide us through various situations.

One of my greatest passions is sitting with others as they become enlightened, unburdened & encouraged through the power of talk therapy. I consider it a privilege when one shares their life challenges with me in pursuit of support and guidance. External conditions may not change but through counseling, one's perspective and response can change, leading to emotional & mental health. Your struggles & pressures in life do not have to dictate or determine who you are or how you feel but can be used to experience growth and help you realize your personal strength & potential and ability to change. My expertise is informed by more than 10 years in clinical practice as well as over 25 years in Human Service Practice skills. I am very compassionate and value the capacity for individuals to reach their highest desires. When conflicts are experienced in life, they can certainly be immobilizing. It is at this turning point when having a professional "outside voice" that can listen, provide guidance in a non-judgmental setting, and assist with making healthy choices will become an asset to you.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
