Hi! I’m Meg and I am glad you're here. Looking for a therapist takes courage; I want to acknowledge the very challenging steps that you are taking to find support either for yourself or for a loved one. As a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) I view our mental wellbeing as a culmination of factors ranging from our genetics to our daily stressors which can sometimes make us feel like our world is crashing down all at once or that things are happening as a trickle with no rhyme or reason. Navigating our inner world simultaneously with the external world can be overwhelming.

Feel free to contact me to discuss how therapy may help and if I am the right therapist for you. I would be happy to spend some time on the phone to answer any questions you may have as well as to help you decide whether or not to set up an initial appointment.

I know you're more than your story, your pain, joy, social identity & experiences. As a South Asian immigrant, I proactively advocate for my clients both inside and outside the therapy room. I will show up for you if you need help involving other family or partner participants in therapy sessions. I connect a session with the next session with a journaling prompt or a big feeling exploration during the week. I also make sure I do not abruptly end sessions and take the last few minutes to do some grounding and mindfulness exercises helping clients feel less overwhelmed when they leave the therapy room.

Using an eclectic approach, mainly rooted in relational and attachment-based work, alongside some CBT techniques and DBT skills training, I work with teens and adults experiencing suicidal ideation & self-injury, grief/traumatic loss, ADHD, depression, anxiety, mood & personality disorders, queer and gender issues, fertility challenges (especially for those who are visibly queer), queer family-building, and pregnancy loss—many of which I have personal experience with.
It’s important to me to be transparent about my positionality, in terms of my identity and lived experiences, as well as being someone who seeks mental health services, myself—I know what it's like to be in the therapy chair and sitting across from it. To that end, I come to my work as a partner and a support, rather than an expert.

My ideal client is an adult woman who feels emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected despite being capable and self-aware. She may struggle with anxiety, mood instability, trauma, or challenging relationships and notices repeating patterns that no longer serve her. She wants relief, emotional steadiness, and deeper understanding—not just short-term coping. Her goal is meaningful, lasting change that allows her to feel more grounded, empowered, and aligned in her life and relationships.

Do you struggle with feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Do you put your needs at the bottom of the to do list? Do you wonder if life should feel somehow better? Happier? Now more than ever people are feeling anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about how they are supposed to manage their mental health, self care, relationships, career, and their lives. Pushing away your needs and not taking time for yourself can lead to long term issues for your mind and your body. I believe it shouldn’t be so hard for you to live a better life.

Are you exhausted from scrolling through therapist profiles, wondering who will actually understand you? Finding the right therapist can feel painful when everyone sounds the same, I get it. You might be in the right place if you look capable on the outside but feel anxious, emotionally drained, or on edge inside. You may overthink, people-please, struggle with boundaries, or carry guilt for wanting more for yourself. Maybe ADHD adds to the overwhelm, or family expectations still shape your choices. You want relief from anxiety, healthier relationships, clearer boundaries, and the confidence to trust yourself again.

Starting therapy can feel a bit scary, and that's completely understandable. It's normal to feel nervous, but know that you’re not alone in this journey, and those nerves are just part of the process. I approach therapy with empathy, an open mind, and a lot of kindness and warmth. I truly believe in the power of creating a safe and supportive space for my clients. The most rewarding part of my work is witnessing the growth and progress of my clients as they move toward a place where they can enjoy their daily lives with confidence and peace.

Looking to change something about yourself? Are you hitting dead ends or finding stuck points even if you are trying hard not to? The good news is that various types of CBT therapy can help you address those themes! Common self-defeating behaviors that I have helped clients with include: avoidance, isolation, impulse control, procrastination, aggressive/toxic communication, substance, sex/pornography, gambling, and technology addiction. Behaviors such as these are often closely linked to unhealthy negative emotions that can fester/worsen over time such as: depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, shame, hurt, envy, and jealousy.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
