As a mother of three
children
I understand the delicate balance of home, work life and the stressors that many people encounter.
Hope gives you strength, encouragement, peace and the ability to press on and move forward. Without it we feel stuck, depressed and even hopeless. I can help foster positive growth in your life, help you see that change really is possible, and that there is always hope.

I work with
children
and adults.
Sometimes life gets complicated. Confronting and discussing your feelings requires strength. In my experience, things that are never discussed are never resolved. The decision to ask for help with your concerns is a tremendous step forward. When choosing a counselor, look for someone you can easily sit across from. Then ask yourself, do you feel heard? I have listened to hundreds of stories. I respect each one as it reflects that person's journey through life. I feel privileged to play a part in that journey. I promise to do my best to help you find your way! Thank you.

Whether I am working with a
child
or an adult, my primary goal is to help to create a safe space for them to identify, explore and manage the emotions and behaviors that are impeding their potential for living a healthier and happy life. I have extensive training and experience working with
children
and adults who have experienced trauma. Though often feeling depleted and unrecognized, I have seen, untapped, and helped to recover incredible strengths in my clients. Much of my work begins with identifying and supporting those strengths in an effort to overcome and heal from the issues that are creating challenges in their lives.

children
in the foster care system, victims of trauma, and those who are grieving.
Thank you so much for visiting my page. Unfortunately at this time, I am unable to accept new clients. Counseling is not for the broken, it's for the breathing- Josh Shipp. I work with
children
, adolescents, couples, and families and approach therapy from a systems perspective. Therapy is client centered but a collaborative approach is used to help you meet your goals. I have created an environment that provides comfort and allows you to speak freely about your concerns while helping you to come to a place of peace and a better understanding of yourself.

I work with
children
, adults, families and couples, and I view people as individuals with unique experiences, concerns, goals and preferences for addressing their issues.
If you are struggling with personal, family or relationship issues, I offer a slightly different approach than you might expect. Contrary to how some view therapy, I believe there is far more "right" than "wrong" with people who seek help -- strengths allowing them to overcome seemingly overwhelming obstacles. I'm a therapist, but I'm also a parent and husband who makes plenty of mistakes. Luckily, perfection isn't necessary or even desirable, as it often takes only small, positive changes to yield significant benefits. Things can get better, sometimes quickly, if you begin taking steps in the right direction.

The majority of my career has been spent addressing emotional trauma with
children
and families.
Acceptance, change, gratitude, wellness... These are some of the most common things we strive to practice throughout our lives. However the challenges we face often get in the way, leaving us feeling stuck or struggling as we work toward personal goals. I see therapy as a great resource to help develop skills to cope with difficult life experiences and to reevaluate those difficult experiences through an altered lens, giving rise to new insight and making us wiser.

Child Therapists
Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.
How long are sessions with child therapists?
Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.
How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?
The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.
How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
