The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned. Maya Angelou I believe that a safe and trusting relationship with the therapist is the key to change in therapy. It takes courage and the ability to be vulnerable to look at ourselves honestly. I will provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere. We will work together to identify the obstacles that are blocking your growth. I will be your guide in trying to help you increase your awareness of what your needs are so that the changes you desire in your life can occur.

Contacting a therapist can be a difficult decision to make. You may already be exhausted by whatever life challenge that now leads you to seek help. Please, know that the hardest part will be getting yourself through my door. The hardest part of my job is usually to guide you in taking self judgement out of the equation and replacing it with empathy and patience. Kindness that you likely only reserve for others other than yourself.

People seek therapy because they are in pain or conflict. As an empathic therapist I am very mindful of how careful listening is a critical aspect of therapy. Patients begin to experience relief when they feel they are working with someone they trust and who cares about their struggles. My work as a Psychologist for 25+ years has given me the experience and skills needed to identify the concerns and issues that keep many people stuck in patterns of behavior that hinder their higher functioning. Alleviating troublesome symptoms, and working toward a more positive self-image are key steps toward emotional well-being.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has been licensed in the state of New Jersey for many years. I obtained my Masters of Social Work from New York University. During this time, I have worked exclusively in the field of behavioral health. My experiences have given me the opportunity to meet individuals, who unaware of their inner strength, have by making tiny changes in their thoughts and actions, improved their joy of life. Being witness to these positive changes I am in awe of the human spirit; remaining hopeful that individuals can grow and change. As a social worker, I see the individual from a holistic point of view.

Life is very much like driving a car. We can't only focus on the destination, and we can't stare into the rearview mirror. Either of these actions would cause an accident, and most certainly distract us from our main goal - keeping our eyes on the road! In my practice, I take on the GPS role. The driver and the GPS are a team. The relationship between the client and the therapist is powerful one, involving trust and collaboration. I provide parent coaching and have also worked in school settings for almost a decade. I also enjoy supervising other therapists to help them do their best work.

Depression, anxiety, and fear are three emotions that can hinder individuals from leading happy, productive lives. I have extensive training in these areas that help my clients to alleviate, if not eliminate the distressing circumstances that cause emotional pain.
If you've ever been abused emotionally or physically, have experienced a traumatic event, feel stuck in an unfulfilling relationship, or struggle with daily life stressors, I know I can help you through it.

In individual therapy and groups, I help women build greater trust in themselves.
In my 25 years of practice, I have evolved a number of specializations:couples therapy; women's issues;dealing with anxiety and depression--including post-partum depression; and facing the challenges of pregnancy loss and infertility. I have had extensive post-graduate training in couples therapy and have developed a lively and effective way of helping couples in distress get "unstuck" and move into a more satisfying and respectful relationship with one another.
