My 36 years of specialization in the treatment of trauma and dissociation have helped me understand the pain and despair that are left in trauma 's wake.
36+ years of working with people's suffering and struggle have taught me much about both the loving and destructive things we are capable of doing to ourselves as well as to others I have also witnessed the incredible growth, healing, and freedom of people who put energy and sincere effort into understanding their experience and learning how to uncover and grow their innate wisdom and strength

I use a holistic, trauma -informed approach that goes beyond traditional talk therapy to help regulate the nervous system.
If you are ready to stop the fear cycle, feel safer in your body, and break free from anxiety, it’s possible. We CAN unlearn our nervous system’s response to trauma . We CAN rewire our brains to feel calmer and live in the present by not only changing how we think, but how we use our bodies. Thanks to advances in neuroscience, you can free yourself from the grip of anxiety that has taken your body hostage. Trauma gets trapped in mind & the body, causing physical symptoms, but can be released via innovative, mind-body approaches that target both. Dealing with trauma can feel lonely, but healing from it need not be done alone.

As a mental health counselor and certified trauma therapist, my goal is to work collaboratively with my clients.
We all have moments in our life when we need support. Whether we're facing something unexpected, trying to manage feelings we don't understand, or just hoping to forget something that happened years ago, we're all carrying some sort of burden with us wherever we go. But you don't have to carry it alone.

My expertise is in mental health, trauma , and addiction.
Sometimes life gets complicated. Confronting and discussing your feelings requires strength. In my experience, things that are never discussed are never resolved. The decision to ask for help with your concerns is a tremendous step forward. When choosing a counselor, look for someone you can easily sit across from. Then ask yourself, do you feel heard? I have listened to hundreds of stories. I respect each one as it reflects that person's journey through life. I feel privileged to play a part in that journey. I promise to do my best to help you find your way! Thank you.

Trauma experienced in childhood influences our beliefs and behaviors, causing emotional distress, mental health challenges, and difficulty in intimate relationships. Mindfulness and somatic healing methods can help release emotions trapped in the body and help individuals better manage their emotional states while fostering greater self-compassion and a healthier connection with Self and others.

If you are suffering with anxiety and/or depression, or anger issues, you know the pain and distress they can cause in our daily lives. What we overlook is the important scientific understanding that many of these problems are also partly the result of chronic stress, that has affected our brains and minds at some point in our physiological and psychological development, and the various coping styles we have developed to survive within that stressful environment. Scientific studies have shown that these 'coping habits' we developed, can be changed with awareness and training of the workings of our minds.

You, or perhaps someone close to you, may have been struggling with a problem for some time and now have made the decision to seek professional assistance. This step comes neither easily nor comfortably. Feelings of apprehension, reluctance, and ambivalence are normal. Contrary to any self-talk that seeking help is a "sign of weakness", it is just the opposite. Engaging in therapeutic change is a bold and courageous act. I welcome hearing from you and will gladly discuss any matter of concern confidentially.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
